Traffic Police Urge Two Alternate Routes to Avoid Flooding on Viphavadi Road
Traffic police closed the ground-level inbound Viphavadi Rangsit Road due to severe flooding on September 27, directing motorists to use the Don Mueang Tollway elevated section or turn back at designated detour points.
At 3 p.m. on September 27, Deputy Police Colonel Phuchong Maothung, supervisor of the Viphavadi Rangsit/Expressway Traffic Control Center Division 2, announced temporary traffic rerouting on inbound Viphavadi Rangsit Road due to severe flooding. The closure applies from 3 p.m. to midnight on the ground-level section affected by floodwaters. Motorists are advised to use the Don Mueang Tollway elevated section as the primary route into Bangkok instead of the flooded ground-level road.
Detours begin at the Don Mueang Airport warehouse area, directing traffic from Rangsit heading into Bangkok to shift into the parallel lane. Route 1 recommends using the tollway's parallel lane to Sai 4 intersection, then ascending the Don Mueang Tollway elevated section at the Sai 4 toll booth to enter Bangkok. Route 2 allows drivers wanting to turn back to use the parallel lane and return via the turnaround bridge, then head back toward Rangsit or choose another suitable route.
At Sai 4 intersection, traffic officers will manage flow and open lanes for detours into the main route, lane changes, and turnarounds according to traffic conditions and water levels to facilitate public movement.
