Former Thai National Team Coach Dies in Electrical Accident
Former Thai national football team assistant coach Thanakrit Chimpali died in an electrical accident on September 26 after being struck by a crane that hit a power line while he was helping an operator at his home in Bang Phli.
The Siko Foundation announced the death of Thanakrit Chimpali, known as Coach Rak, a former assistant coach for the Thai national football team during the Siko Kiattisak era. The foundation expressed gratitude for his contributions and asked for prayers for his soul and support for his family during this time of loss. According to reports, Rak, a former Category 19 referee and international official since 2015, died on the evening of September 26 at his home in Bang Phli. He was attempting to help a crane operator who was being electrocuted when the crane struck a power line while trying to move Rak's vehicle from his house to higher ground. The accident proved fatal for Rak, while the crane operator suffered severe injuries. A merit-making ceremony will be held at Wat Sri Iam in Bang Na from September 27-29, with the funeral service on September 30.
