Thailand Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Across 16 Provinces Through September 28
Thailand's Meteorological Department warns of heavy rain across 16 provinces through September 28, with flooding risks in low-lying areas and rough seas across the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand.
The Thai Meteorological Department issued its 15th heavy rainfall warning for 16 provinces in northern, central, eastern, and southern Thailand. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected across lower northern regions, the western central provinces, the east, and upper southern areas, with particularly intense rainfall in some locations. Bangkok and surrounding areas will see decreased but continued rainfall with heavy downpours in isolated areas. A low-pressure system has moved toward Myanmar and the Andaman Sea, while the southwest monsoon continues to affect the Andaman Sea, southern region, and Gulf of Thailand.
Residents are warned of dangers from accumulated rainfall that may cause flooding, especially in foothill and low-lying areas near waterways. Travel through flood-prone routes should be avoided, particularly in low-lying areas where water may accumulate rapidly. Sea conditions remain rough across the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, with waves 2–3 meters high in the upper sections and up to 2 meters in lower sections, higher near thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand are advised not to leave shore until September 28, 2026.
Affected provinces include Tak and Kamphaengphet in the north; Nakhonsawan, Uthaithani, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi in the central region; Nakhonnayok, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat in the east; and Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ranong, and Phangnga in the south. Bangkok and nearby provinces are also expected to be affected by heavy rain.
