The Meteorological Department issued a weather forecast for the next 24 hours on September 15, warning of continued heavy rainfall across much of Thailand, particularly in the lower northern, northeastern, and central regions, with very heavy rain expected in parts of the eastern region. Residents in these areas are urged to be vigilant against dangers from heavy to extremely heavy rainfall and accumulated precipitation that may cause flash floods, river overflow, and mudslides, especially near hillsides and low-lying areas. Travel through flood-prone routes, particularly in low-lying areas prone to short-term flooding, should be avoided.
The severe weather is caused by a monsoon trough passing through central and northeastern Thailand, combined with the moderate southwest monsoon continuing to cover the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand. Wave conditions in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are moderate, with waves 1–2 meters high in the upper gulf, rising above 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Fishing vessels are advised to exercise caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms.
Regional forecasts predict thunderstorms in 60–70 percent of areas across northern, northeastern, central, and eastern regions with localized heavy rain. The eastern region will experience particularly heavy rainfall in Chanthaburi and Trat provinces. Southern regions face 60 percent thunderstorm coverage with localized heavy rain. Temperatures range from 22–26°C at the lowest to 30–36°C at the highest across regions. Waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are expected to be 1–2 meters, exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm zones.
