Six Youths Recently Released from Detention Attack 14-Year-Old

Nondindaeng police investigated the scene along Tan Rim Khuen Canal Lane in Nondindaeng District, Buriram, to gather additional evidence after six teenagers aged 14-16 gang-assaulted a 14-year-old boy identified as Noh, who sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized at Nondindaeng Hospital. Two other friends suffered minor injuries in the attack that occurred on the night of September 12. According to witness statements, the attackers were recently released from a juvenile detention facility and were attending a vocational training center in the district before escaping at night to carry out the assault. The attack was triggered by a dispute over a girl—one of the injured youths, Phai, 15, had dated a girl named A but broke up about a month ago before she began dating one of the attackers. Before they could even discuss the matter, the gang attacked without warning, severely injuring Noh while Phai was not even present at the scene. The injured youths said they managed to escape only after seeking help from officials at the canal, narrowly avoiding further serious harm. Phethai Omphonsiri, Noh's father, expressed shock at the severity of the attack, noting his son had puncture-like wounds on his arm. He appealed to police to urgently pursue and prosecute those responsible to the full extent of the law. Deputy Police Captain Thosapon Na Ubon, commander of Nondindaeng Police Station, confirmed that investigators and the inquiry team have been deployed to gather additional evidence to identify and pursue the attackers, and that juvenile procedures will be followed given the youths' ages.
