Election Commission Names 77 In Senate Selection Fraud Case
The Election Commission named 77 defendants in a Senate selection fraud case and referred the matter to the Supreme Court, including 26 sitting senators and prominent figures from military and political backgrounds.

The commission voted to refer the case to the Supreme Court and pursue criminal investigation into alleged irregularities in the Senate selection process. The defendants are divided into three categories: 26 sitting senators facing charges including counts 3 and 4-7; 36 individuals with voting rights in Senate selection; and 15 other persons including Somkiat Liang-prasit, a representative from the Bhumjaithai Party in Sukhothai, and others. Prominent names among the accused include former General Sawat Tadsana, former Police Major General Bunjun Nuan-sai, and current senators Alongkot Vorakee and Niphon Ekawanitchai.
