Cyber Police Arrest Two Men in Illegal Online Gun Sales
Cyber police arrested two men for illegally selling firearms online, seizing homemade rifles, pistols, and ammunition from their homes in Pathum Thani and Phetchaburi provinces.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Division Unit 2, led by senior commanders including General Surapol Prembut, conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of two men engaged in illegal firearms trafficking through online channels. The first suspect, a 61-year-old man from Pathum Thani, was arrested at his residence in Bang Khaeng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pathum Thani Province. Police discovered one homemade high-pressure air rifle and 20 rounds of ammunition hidden in the home. The suspect confessed to purchasing the firearm through the Shopee app for 10,000 baht and has been charged with possession of an unlicensed weapon.
The second suspect, a 25-year-old man from Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province, was arrested at his residence and found to be in possession of two pistols with magazines, 65 rounds of ammunition in various calibers, and multiple holsters and storage boxes. Police tracked him through a Line Official group called "Tid Bang," through which he purchased the firearms. He admitted to buying one pistol for 16,000 baht, another for 17,000 baht, and ammunition for 1,400 baht, but could not produce any legal documentation for the weapons. Both suspects have been detained and charged with possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.
