Cyber police raided a condominium in Bangkok's Don Mueang district and arrested a 34-year-old man after discovering a cache of firearms and ammunition. The suspect confessed that he had bought the weapons and ammunition online via Facebook two to three years earlier. He now faces charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Cyber police raided a condominium and arrested a 34-year-old man identified as Wirasak (surname withheld) after finding numerous firearms and ammunition. The suspect admitted that he had bought the weapons from an acquaintance on Facebook two to three years prior for 4,000 baht, and likewise purchased the ammunition online.
Police seized the following items: a pen‑type pistol that fires .22 caliber rounds (one barrel), a long‑barrel rifle for .22 caliber ammunition (one unit), another long‑barrel rifle for .22 caliber ammunition (one unit), an air‑powered rifle that fires lead‑tipped pellets (one unit), 20 rounds of .22 WMR (Magnum) ammunition, 50 rounds of .22 LR ammunition, and 50 rounds of lead‑tipped pellets.
During interrogation, Wirasak stated that all the firearms were his own, purchased from a Facebook contact two to three years ago for 4,000 baht, and that the ammunition had also been bought through Facebook. He was charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition without a license, and taken to Don Mueang police station for further legal processing.
