Police Arrest Youth for Homemade Guns, 200 Rounds, C4 Detonator
Police arrested a 21‑year‑old man in Bangkok after finding homemade firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and components for C‑4 explosives. The suspect said he enjoyed making the weapons but denied selling them; investigators are expanding the case to locate any buyers. He faces charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
On 9 October 2026, Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Pol. Lt. Gen. Phollphong Aermlha, Deputy Commissioner, Pol. Maj. Gen. Khamphan Arunkeerirot, Commander of Region 4, Pol. Col. Thanachot Rukdee, Acting Commander of the Special Operations Division, Pol. Col. Thotsapon Amphaiphiphatkul, Superintendent of Pravesh Police Station, Pol. Lt. Rachot Phumphungmuang, Inspector of the Special Operations Division, Pol. Lt. Nawamin Khunphan, Pol. Lt. Prasopsook Na Bangchang, Deputy Inspector, together with officers from the Special Operations Division’s Team 4, arrested 21‑year‑old Mr. Pee at his home in Pravesh District, Bangkok.
Officers seized a modified .380 blank‑fire pistol, two .380 blank‑fire pistols awaiting modification, 30 .22‑caliber rounds, 20 5.56 mm rounds, 100 .380 rounds, one 12‑gauge round, 20 9 mm rounds, 50 blank rounds, a 5.56 mm magazine, four 7.62 mm magazines, one .22 mm magazine, and 14 suspected explosive‑precursor items, four of which were identified as electric detonators suitable for C‑4 explosives. The items are being sent for forensic examination.
Investigators said the operation stemmed from government and national police crime‑suppression policies and was linked to the upcoming IMF‑World Bank Group Annual Meetings 2026 (12‑18 October). Surveillance of social media groups on Line and Telegram revealed that Mr. Pee was selling homemade firearms and explosive circuits; a controlled purchase led to his arrest.
During questioning, Mr. Pee said he had been studying at a non‑formal education institute and had enjoyed making guns and explosive circuits for two years, starting in 2024. He admitted to constructing the explosive panels but claimed he had not sold them. Police remain skeptical and are coordinating with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit to examine the suspicious items. He has been charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and possession of a firearm for which no license can be issued, and has been transferred to Pravesh Police Station for further legal proceedings.
