Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department Director-General Nirat Phongstitthaworn admitted the 4.7-billion-baht flood relief fund is insufficient and said more will be requested, noting the full amount has already been transferred to the Government Savings Bank and is expected to reach victims within this week. He explained that once eligibility is verified, funds can be transferred to applicants within one to two days, with payments made on a rolling basis rather than waiting for a lump sum. If the initial sum proves inadequate, the department will seek additional approval from the cabinet in installments.
