Thai Army Moves Border Containers After Upgrading Defences
The Royal Thai Army said it has relocated temporary container barriers from the Khok Kala Khum border area in Surin Province after strengthening permanent defenses there. Army Deputy Spokesperson Colonel Richel Suksuwananth confirmed Thai troop positions remain secure and the move followed coordination with the Suranaree Forces. The containers will be reused for military use at other locations.
The Royal Thai Army explained that it had moved container barriers from the Khok Kala Khum area in Surin Province, affirming that Thai troop deployments remain solid and defensive measures have been strengthened. On October 5, 2026 at the Army Headquarters, Deputy Spokesperson Colonel Richel Suksuwananth clarified reports of container relocation from the Thai defense line in Khok Kala Khum, Surin Province. He said the Army had verified the information with the Suranaree Forces and found the area is part of the Thai defense line under the joint statement from the General Border Committee meeting on December 27, 2025, with Thai forces continuously stationed there. The colonel added that troops originally placed the containers as a temporary barrier to maintain security while upgrading and refining tactical measures to suit the terrain and improve area defense. Current protective measures at the site have now been strengthened and rendered orderly, replacing the container line. Consequently, the containers have been moved out and will be used for military purposes elsewhere.
