Violent Suspect Arrested After Three-Year Manhunt in Chonburi
A 44-year-old man wanted for shooting his uncle during a land dispute three years ago was arrested in Chonburi after evading authorities since February 2566. He fired a shotgun at his uncle's home and made death threats before fleeing.
Police raided and arrested a 44-year-old man identified as Dam at a rented room on Premchai Rasd Road in Saensuk subdistrict, Mueang district, Chonburi province on September 14. He had been evading an arrest warrant issued by Thungsong Provincial Court on February 7, 2566, on charges of attempted premeditated murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The suspect had a long-standing land dispute with his uncle, his victim, over the use of ancestral property. The conflict intensified after the suspect claimed his younger brother had died in an incident involving the uncle, though the court dismissed that case. On February 6, 2566, the suspect alleged his uncle damaged property and rubber trees on his land, prompting him to open fire on the uncle's house. He shot the uncle once in the right thigh with a shotgun, then fired nine more rounds into the house while threatening to kill everyone inside and challenging the uncle to a shootout. The uncle and his wife hid in the house for hours until the suspect left.
The victim was hospitalized for treatment while the suspect fled. Police Investigation Unit 5 pursued leads and tracked him to a hideout in Saensuk subdistrict. They arrested him following an investigation, and he confessed during questioning. He has been transferred to Bang Khan Police Station in Nakhon Si Thammarat for further legal proceedings.
