Democrat Party Collects Flood Relief Supplies for Bangkok
The Democrat Party opened a relief donation center to collect supplies and assemble survival kits for distribution to Bangkok residents affected by severe flooding that has left many areas waterlogged and residents unable to purchase food.
The Democrat Party opened a relief donation center at party headquarters on September 27 to collect supplies and assemble survival kits for distribution through members of parliament and local administrators in flood-affected areas. Chuan Leekpai, a list-based Democrat MP, visited to monitor flood relief efforts and accept donations from the public and private sector for distribution to affected residents. Chuan expressed concern for flood victims across Bangkok and other provinces, and thanked officials and volunteers working to help affected communities.
Party spokeswoman Sirippa Intwichian said the center began accepting consumer goods, rice, dried food, and essential items this morning to assemble relief kits for distribution by party members in flooded Bangkok neighborhoods. Many areas remain severely waterlogged, preventing residents from purchasing food. MPs and private donors are continuously delivering supplies.
While MPs and local administrators assist flood victims, particularly in the heavily affected Bang Kapi and Khlong Chan areas, party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva is scheduled to visit the area this afternoon to distribute relief kits. The public can request assistance from the Democrat Party, while MPs in other provinces continue monitoring the situation. In Rayong province, MP Pasit Pitutecha reported ongoing water-related dangers with road closures. Intwichian stated that urgent priorities include food and medicine, as many flood-trapped residents cannot shop normally or find sufficient supplies at convenience stores. She called on the Commerce Ministry to send mobile trade trucks or commerce ministry mobile units to affected areas to assist residents.
