Deputy Minister Confirms 2 Million Baht Relief for Flood Deaths
Flood and fire victims in Bangkok will receive 2 million baht in first-phase compensation for each death, pending cabinet approval, with authorities accelerating damage assessments.
Deputy Interior Minister Jedsadathorn Thai-settha confirmed that first-phase compensation of 2 million baht for those killed in the Khlong Chan apartment fire and flooding will proceed under normal criteria, with Bangkok to submit the request for cabinet approval. Speaking on September 27 at Bang Khen School's evacuation center, the deputy minister said disaster victims would receive compensation consistent with past practice, with each deceased receiving 2 million baht pending cabinet approval. He added that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and the Interior Minister have ordered agencies to accelerate damage assessments, with first-phase relief budgeted to prioritize compensation for the deceased.
