In the first match, Thailand defeated the Philippines comfortably 15-11 and 15-7. In the second match against Japan, Thailand secured a tight 2-1 set victory with scores of 15-9, 16-17, and 15-9. With two straight wins, Thailand clinched first place in Group A and will face the runner-up from Group B—which includes Malaysia, Vietnam, and Myanmar—on September 28.
