Father Missing After Flood Submerges Bridge in Chachoengsao
A 23‑year‑old man reported his father missing after floodwaters submerged their home in Chachoengsao. Neighbors last saw the father collecting relief rice packs before he likely slipped on a moss‑covered, underwater bridge and fell into a swift canal. Rescue teams searched with three boats but found no trace, only dead fish, and suspended the effort at 10 p.m. pending a renewed search the next day.
At the Mueang Chachoengsao Police Station on 18 October 2069, 23‑year‑old Denai reported that his 48‑year‑old father, living in Moo 9, Bang Phai subdistrict, had disappeared since 15 October. Neighbors said they last saw him walking out to collect relief rice packs distributed by the Bang Phai Administrative Organization. Denai suspects his father slipped on the algae‑covered, flood‑submerged bridge in front of their house and fell into the fast‑flowing canal clogged with water hyacinth. He lit incense asking the spirits to help find his father. The Chachoengsao rescue team launched three boats to search the canal, pushing aside the floating hyacinth, but found no sign, only a rotten smell from dead fish drifting with the floodwaters. Water around and inside the house remained above 50 centimeters deep and stagnant. Rescue personnel called off the search at 10:00 p.m., planning to resume with boats the following day.
