Thai Golfer Danthai Boonma Finishes Tied Fifth at Macau Open
Thai golfer Danthai Boonma secured a tied-fifth finish at the Macau Open 2026, earning over 1.2 million baht for his best performance by a Thai professional this season. The title was won by Wang Weixuan of Chinese Taipei, who defeated South Korea's Im Sung-jae in a playoff to claim his first Asian Tour victory. Other Thai players Sompong Keawkanjana and Pavit Tangkomprasert finished tied for seventh.
Danthai Boonma carded a five-under-par 65 in the final round to finish at 12-under-par 268, tying for fifth place and earning $37,150 (about 1.24 million baht), the best showing by a Thai professional in the field. He said the softer greens and fairways helped his iron play and putting, giving him good momentum. The championship went to Wang Weixuan of Chinese Taipei, who defeated Im Sung-jae of South Korea in a playoff after both finished the regulation rounds at 17-under-par 263. Wang won the playoff with a birdie on the first extra hole, collecting $180,000 (roughly six million baht) for his maiden Asian Tour title. Other Thai players Sompong Keawkanjana and Pavit Tangkomprasert each shot five-under-par 65 to finish at 11-under-par 269, tying for seventh place and receiving $26,200 (about 864,000 baht) each. Pavit Tangkomprasert remains atop the Asian Tour Order of Merit for 2026.
