After Surin province organized a welcome ceremony for "Biew" Phuripol Boonson, the Thai sprinter who set an Asian record and won two gold medals at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan — the highlight being a nine-elephant parade through crowds of well-wishers — Facebook user Prakit Smallroo KruTa posted that he is a junior schoolmate of Biew's mother. The post read: "Just found out the sprinting god Biew is the son of my senior from the neighborhood. No wonder Biew runs so fast — his mother was a top school volleyball player and track star who ran incredibly fast. Incredible genetics combined with his own determination. Simply amazing, proud of both mother and son."
