Barcelona President Confirms Offer For Alvarez
Barcelona has made an official offer to sign Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez as a replacement for departed striker Robert Lewandowski, with the player reportedly eager to join the Catalan club.
Barcelona President Joan Laporta has confirmed the club has submitted an offer to sign Julián Álvarez, the forward from rival La Liga side Atlético Madrid, saying the player also wants to join Barcelona.
Barcelona is urgently looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who departed on a free transfer after his contract expired. Álvarez has been one of the strikers consistently linked with the Catalan club.
Laporta recently stated: "Our director has already made an offer, and we know the player wants to come to us. Atlético Madrid says they have no plans to sell him because they don't have a replacement. But this offer will remain on the table and we'll hold onto it until we find a suitable alternative."
Previously, Álvarez indicated that leaving Atlético Madrid would be the best option for him. Real Madrid, another La Liga club, had submitted an offer worth up to 150 million euros, but it was already rejected.
