Ten Dogs Poisoned At Cemetery In Suspected Deliberate Kill

About ten stray dogs were found dead from suspected poisoning and gunshots at a cemetery in Chachoengsao Province, with a caregiver who regularly fed them pleading for the culprit to report the problem to authorities instead.

2h ago Khaosod

A dog caregiver's heartbreak: approximately ten stray dogs living at a cemetery in Chachoengsao Province have been found dead, allegedly poisoned by an unknown person. The woman who regularly feeds the dogs pleads with the culprit to stop, urging them to contact authorities instead.

On July 1, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., news arrived of multiple dogs killed by poison and gunshot within a cemetery in Moo 3, Samnuak Bok Subdistrict, Muang District, Chachoengsao Province. Reporters traveled to investigate.

Upon arrival at the cemetery grounds, multiple Thai-breed dog carcasses were found scattered throughout the area. Some had begun to bloat, others were decomposing and emitting foul odors across the entire site. Investigation confirmed ten dogs had died in total, shocking all who discovered them.

Interviewed at the scene, 50-year-old Wanwadee, who regularly brought food to feed the cemetery dogs, tearfully explained that she had been bringing rice and meals to the dogs daily because she observed they had no owners. Some had been abandoned there, others had lived in the area for years. Moved by compassion, she cared for them as best she could.

Wanwadee revealed that recently, the dogs that used to run to eat had begun disappearing one by one. She subsequently found some dead scattered throughout the cemetery, one or two per day, until discovering a large number of bodies altogether. She suspects someone maliciously placed poison or used firearms to shoot them, evidenced by wound marks on their bodies and what appeared to be bite marks or gnaw wounds on their legs.

"It breaks my heart. The dogs just lived their lives and didn't harm anyone," Wanwadee said through tears. "I want to beg whoever did this to stop. If you don't like them, report it to authorities to handle it properly. Don't resort to poisoning or shooting them to death, because they have lives just like us."

Local dog caregivers and residents are calling on relevant authorities to investigate the facts, find solutions to help, and address the stray dog problem appropriately to prevent similar tragic incidents. They urge the perpetrators that if dogs cause trouble, officials should be notified rather than resorting to violence, as these animals are innocent and do not deserve to be killed so brutally.

Pattaya Low Season Sees Tourist Arrivals Drop 20-30%

Pattaya's low season is bringing a tourism crisis, with visitor arrivals down 20-30 percent and hotels operating at just 15 percent occupancy due to collapsed corporate travel, reduced flights, and work-from-home policies.

Pattaya Low Season Sees Tourist Arrivals Drop 20-30%, Flights Slashed, Hotels Operating at 15% Occupancy

Many Businesses Struggling Under Heavy Cost Pressures

July 1, 2026 — Reporters have documented a severe tourism contraction affecting the Pattaya area and Chachoengsao Province during the low season. Tourist arrivals have declined sharply, the conference and seminar market has largely vanished, and reduced flight schedules are forcing many hotels to operate below break-even occupancy levels.

Thanesh Suprasahastrangsi, chairman of the Chachoengsao Tourism Association, explained that while the post-school closure period (April-May) traditionally draws family tourists to sustain the market, this year shows a significantly steeper decline than normal.

A key factor is the collapse in corporate seminars and government travel, driven by work-from-home policies that many agencies interpret as incompatible with budgeting guidelines. This has eliminated a traditionally vital source of low-season tourism revenue.

Meanwhile, regional short-haul tourism has been hit hard as budget carriers and some commercial airlines progressively reduce or cancel flights due to climbing fuel costs and insufficient booking volumes, further reducing tourist travel.

According to data from the Thai Hotels Association Eastern Region (THAE) and the Chachoengsao Tourism Association, tourist numbers have dropped approximately 20-30 percent, while many hotels are operating at occupancy rates of just 15-20 percent—well below the break-even threshold of 40-50 percent.

Opposition Party Slams Budget As Government Aid Package

Pheu Thai Party leader Nattapong Ruengpanya criticized the government's budget proposal as inadequate and politically motivated, arguing it borrows 400 billion baht without addressing Thailand's structural economic challenges or public conf

2h ago Khaosod

Nattapong Ruengpanya, Pheu Thai Party list MP and party leader, concluded the three-day budget debate by assailing the government's budget proposal as inadequate to address the nation's financial crisis and future prospects. He criticized the administration not for trying to help Thailand, but for propping up the blue government's political foundations, accusing officials of borrowing 400 billion baht simply because they had run out of ideas.

Speaking at 7:50 p.m. on July 1, Nattapong noted considerable agreement with Prime Minister Srettha's earlier remarks on budget reform, saying they almost seemed scripted. He commended Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan for clarifying the government's position from day one. Pheu Thai had proposed amendments to the Budget Act for comprehensive structural reform, and Nattapong urged the government to approve the party's draft bill. He noted that true state finances vastly exceed the formal budget, encompassing state enterprise spending of roughly 4 trillion baht annually, state funds, and local government resources—with off-budget spending estimated at around 10 trillion baht total.

Nattapong stressed that restructuring budget architecture to integrate all state spending toward unified national goals and productive investment would create growth opportunities. He expressed disappointment that over three days of debate, ministers' explanations had failed to inspire public confidence in economic security or the nation's future direction.

Criticizing the budget as a mirror of government performance, Nattapong questioned whether it truly served the people or hidden interests supporting the ruling coalition. He noted Thailand's tax revenue to GDP ratio at just 14-15%—below many peer nations in the region—and warned that budget reforms appeared misaligned with decentralization goals. He cited an example: 22,000 million baht cut from provincial administration budgets was meant for decentralization, yet only 7,000 million baht reached local governments—raising questions whether this constituted genuine power devolution or merely budget cuts.

Nattapong also challenged the government's 400 billion baht borrowing decree, particularly 200 billion baht earmarked for energy sector restructuring, questioning its urgency and necessity.

Budget Shows No Vision, Trapped by Legal Constraints

Democrat MP Karun Jatigvanich criticized the fiscal year 2570 budget for lacking vision and failing to align spending with government priorities, warning that recurring expenses equal to nearly all national income trap Thailand in unsustain

3h ago Khaosod

On July 1, 2569, Karun Jatigvanich, a Democrat Party list MP, stated that when a new government takes office, a policy statement presents a plan while a budget speech proves whether the government will actually execute that plan. After three days of parliamentary debate on budget allocation, he concluded there is significant disappointment and doubts that fiscal year 2570's policies can drive forward the government's previously announced strategies. He identified numerous allocation problems: the drug-control strategy received over 9,000 million baht, yet nearly half was allocated for events and disaster relief rather than preventive measures. Grassroots budgets for community self-reliance received no allocation. Both opposition and government-side members expressed concerns about scattered budget priorities affecting farmers, air pollution, and general welfare, reflecting the budget's lack of vision.

Karun highlighted a structural problem: Thailand's fiscal year 2570 has recurring expenditures equal to 3 trillion baht in national income, meaning every baht of investment must come from borrowing and carry interest burdens. This creates dependency on loan returns that must justify the debt service. The government faces two legal constraints: the Fiscal Discipline Act mandates at least 20% of the budget for investment while allowing deficits not exceeding 20% of total budget. Karun warned that government revenue collection quality has declined annually over the past 4-5 years relative to overall economic growth, suggesting future recurring expenditures will exceed revenues, requiring borrowing merely to pay civil service salaries, elderly allowances, and existing debt. This creates a vicious cycle requiring annual emergency decrees for loans to cover routine expenses, potentially necessitating amendments to the Fiscal Discipline Act. He urged genuine structural budget reform before investor flight worsens the crisis.

Body Found Encased in Cement Inside Water Tank

Police recovered a cement-filled water tank from a pond in Nonthaburi Province containing the decomposed remains of Uthen, a 39-year-old man who disappeared months ago. Suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder case.

3h ago Khaosod

The case involves Uthen, also known as Chia, a 39-year-old man who disappeared months ago. Police determined he had been murdered, with his body placed inside a cement-filled tank and dumped in a large pond in Moo 11, Bang Bua Thong Subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province. Suspects have been arrested, and authorities recovered the tank during an afternoon search operation.

At 5 p.m. on July 1, 2026, rescue divers successfully retrieved the blue plastic tank from the water. A forensic investigation team and medical examiners from the Police Hospital's forensic institute examined the tank on site. Officers initially used an electric saw to cut through the plastic, which broke three saw blades before the lid could be opened. A strong foul odor immediately emerged from inside.

Inside, investigators found large cement blocks mixed with decomposed human remains. The concrete was then broken apart, and tissue samples were collected for autopsy confirmation and formal identification of the deceased.

Mother Shocked After Stepmother Abuses Her Children At Market

A mother recovered her three daughters after a market vendor filmed their stepmother abusing them at a Chon Buri food market, prompting their father to end the relationship and agree to custody transfer.

4h ago Khaosod

At 2 p.m. on July 1st, Chalida Phralammat, known as "Ton Oor Pen Neung," along with Chon Buri officials, rescued three girls—May (13), Noi (9), and Ney (7)—at a room in Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province. Their mother, Lhiu (pseudonym, 42), had received a video from a market vendor showing the girls being hit, head-butted into a table, and abused by their stepmother, Ms. Earn (26), in front of many people at the Thepphrasit street food market.

Lhiu explained that she and the girls' father, Panya (nicknamed Odd), had lived together for over 15 years and had three daughters before separating six years ago. The father refused to let her raise the children, and the girls chose to stay with him. Lhiu had maintained contact and repeatedly asked to take the girls, but they declined, citing the need to start over with new schools and friends, and their stronger bond with their father.

Panya arrived at the room and attempted to explain the situation. He confirmed he was present during the abuse and immediately scolded the stepmother, but she fled and packed her belongings. He tried to convince her to return, even threatening legal action, but she only apologized. Panya acknowledged the stepmother's actions stemmed from her displeasure that the girls had texted their biological mother, saying "Dad misses Mom, we miss Mom, Dad is looking for Mom." He declared he would end the relationship and allow the biological mother to pursue legal remedies.

Kik (pseudonym, 43), a market vendor who witnessed the abuse, stated she saw Ms. Earn striking the children while the father stood by without intervening. She was appalled and took the girls into her care overnight. The children had confided that they felt suppressed, disliked the stepmother due to constant scolding and beatings, and were afraid to tell their father for fear of upsetting him.

The Foundation for One has coordinated with Chon Buri officials to investigate and assist. The biological mother confirmed she will take custody of all three daughters.

Father Kills Drug-Addicted Son in Brutal Attack

A 57-year-old man struck his drug-addicted son with a wooden stick after being kicked and verbally abused, resulting in the son's death at a hospital in Thailand's Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

4h ago Khaosod

On July 1, 2569, village leader Somchai Kaewduan brought 57-year-old Paisal to surrender to investigating officer Patchporn Danuawongse at Nadi Police Station. Paisal was accused of striking his youngest son, 30-year-old Burpa, with a wooden stick, resulting in his death. The incident occurred on the afternoon of June 30.

Paisal tearfully explained that he had just returned home from work exhausted and lay down to rest on a hammock in front of his house. His son Burpa, heavily addicted to drugs and hallucinating, suddenly approached and violently kicked him in the back multiple times while cursing and demanding money to buy drugs. When Paisal explained he had no money, his son refused to listen and continued hurling insults.

Overcome with anger at being assaulted and abused, Paisal retrieved a wooden stick used for cooking fires and struck his son forcefully in the back, causing him to collapse. Relatives alerted the village leader and rescue workers, who took Burpa to Kabinburi Hospital, but his injuries were too severe. The drug-addicted son died peacefully that night at the hospital.

Paisal further revealed that whenever his son couldn't get money for drugs, he would become delusional and steal aluminum roofing sheets to sell, leaving the house nearly bare. The family now lives in darkness without electricity. His greatest concern is not imprisonment, but the welfare of his elderly mother, over 70 years old and in poor health. If he is prosecuted, she will be left alone in a roofless, electrically-dead house.

The investigating officer stated the case qualifies as "provocation" since the deceased had verbally abused and physically assaulted his father first. Initial charges are filed for assault resulting in death, with the case to be forwarded to court for judicial discretion on sentencing reduction.

English Fan Spends House Deposit to Watch World Cup

English football fan Jack Goodwin used his £40,000 house deposit to take his father to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, betting everything on England reaching the final in New Jersey.

4h ago Khaosod

Jack Goodwin, a football fan from Chichester, England, chose to use his savings of £40,000 (approximately 1.8 million baht) that he had set aside for a house deposit to take his father to support the England national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States instead, as it is a unique opportunity in his lifetime.

The 34-year-old Jack and his father have booked hotels, flights, and 2026 World Cup tickets extending through to the final match in New Jersey on July 19, using money originally earmarked for a house deposit.

"We've already been to New York, we've seen the World Cup trophy, and we're going to watch our team bring the trophy home. It's a simple equation," Jack revealed. "My father and I have been to Dallas, Boston, New York, and now we're in Atlanta... and we're going to make it to the final to see our team win the World Cup."

England will face the Democratic Republic of Congo tonight, and Jack is confident that the Three Lions will advance easily. "We'll thrash them 4-0 and then we'll face Mexico at the Azteca Stadium this Sunday, which will be the most amazing match of all. It's the ultimate top-tier match."

"We've now booked everything in advance all the way to the final—hotels, tickets, everything is sorted," he said. "We got all our tickets through FIFA's random allocation. If we don't top the group, all the tickets we have become void immediately."

"Tickets are extremely expensive. I've been saving money to buy a house, but I'm willing to spend my entire house deposit to take myself and my father on this trip. It's roughly £40,000. We got everything at face value, but that doesn't mean it's cheap—it's still enormously expensive. But I don't have kids or a wife, so why not do it? This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
