Big Mong Praises Thai Athletes' Outstanding Performance at Asian Beach Games with 9 Gold Medals
Thailand's 77-member delegation returned home from China's Asian Beach Games with 9 gold medals so far, ranking second overall, with four sports still underway offering chances for more medals.
Chalitrat Chantrubeksa, vice chairman of the Thai Olympic Committee and head of the Thai delegation at the 6th Asian Beach Games "Sanya 2026" in Hainan Province, China, led a 77-member team comprising footvolley, beach athletics, beach football, and open water swimming athletes back to Thailand on flight DE2367 at 7:25 PM on April 28th from Sanya Phoenix International Airport. Consul General Sujitta Muengnoen from the Chinese Consulate General in Guangzhou accompanied the team. Chantrubeksa expressed overall satisfaction with the athletes' performance given their limited one-month preparation period. Thailand has currently won 9 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals, ranking second on the medal table, though four sports remain ongoing: muay tha boxing, beach volleyball, sport climbing, and handball, all offering opportunities for additional medals. The delegation continues to encourage the competing athletes to perform well. Muengnoen stated it was an honor to serve as the attaché overseeing the athletes, noting that all Thai athletes performed exceptionally well.
