Budget Debate Proceeds Smoothly, Vote Expected Tonight
Parliament's fiscal year 2570 budget debate is proceeding constructively without personal attacks, with a final vote expected tonight at the legislature.
At 10:10 a.m. on July 1, 2569 at Parliament, Kravir Perisnananthakul, Ang Thong MP and member of the Bhumjaithai Party, spoke as chair of the governing coalition coordination committee about the two-day consideration of the fiscal year 2570 budget bill. He thanked both opposition and government members for their participation.
Kravir noted that while some might say the debate's tone differs from previous years, careful listening reveals substantive data and figures that government agencies can benefit from. "This budget debate has proceeded smoothly without sarcasm or personal attacks," he stated. "Importantly, both opposition and government are giving new parliamentarians opportunities to speak and offer suggestions, which is positive for seeing fresh MPs engage alongside experienced colleagues."
He added that both sides are working to manage debate time efficiently on this final day, with a vote expected this evening. The Cabinet has responded reasonably well to major questions from opposition members, though some minor points may not have been fully addressed. This afternoon, the coalition will meet to remind government MPs about quorum and voting procedures, with confidence the measure will pass.
