Cabinet Approves Seven-Year Energy Reform Plan
Thailand's Cabinet has approved a seven-year energy reform plan targeting 2026–2032 that aims to ensure reliable energy supplies while developing competitive markets and expanding renewable energy integration.
Government spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek revealed that the Cabinet has approved the Energy Regulatory Operations Plan for 2026–2032, as proposed by the Energy Ministry. The plan has four main objectives: ensuring reliable, sufficient, and efficient energy services tailored to Thailand's needs; developing market oversight mechanisms to promote fair competition, set prices reflecting actual costs, and improve business efficiency; fostering stakeholder cooperation and coordinating energy agencies while fairly addressing affected communities; and elevating organizational standards through improved management systems, personnel development, and corporate culture aligned with international benchmarks. Development strategies include deploying digital systems to efficiently integrate renewable energy, pushing natural gas operations into a fully competitive market, and promoting renewable energy trading in competitive marketplaces.
