Chatchai Rushes to Inspect 50 Flood-Risk Points in Soi Phueng Mai Before Resignation, Pledges to Return as Visitor
Bangkok Governor Chatchai inspected flood-prevention work on Soi Phueng Mai before his resignation, confirming construction has accelerated though remains incomplete and pledging continued oversight as a private citizen.
Bangkok Governor Chatchai Sittiphan conducted a live inspection via Facebook of road construction and drainage pipe improvement work on Soi Phueng Mai 50 in Phra Khanong district, another flood-prone area in the city. Chatchai acknowledged that two months earlier, inspections revealed slow progress, with residents complaining throughout the neighborhood about construction delays. He noted feeling anxious about potential renewed complaints but confirmed work has since accelerated, though not yet 100 percent complete, and entrusted continuation to his successor. When a resident asked why he was still in the field given his son's graduation ceremony the next day, Chatchai explained he was resigning at 5 p.m. and wanted to ensure the project was progressing before leaving. He expressed concern for the project and promised to visit frequently even after stepping down as Bangkok governor.
