Coffee Brand Owner Shot 15 Times At Temple
A 51-year-old coffee brand owner was fatally shot 15 times outside a temple in Chumphon Province on July 5; police are investigating personal conflicts and a domestic dispute as possible motives.
A shooting outside Hin Khao Monastery in Tha Sae District, Chumphon Province on the evening of July 5 claimed the life of Thanongsak, 51, owner of the 'Chai Kae' coffee brand. The gunman fired 15 rounds from a 9mm pistol, striking the victim four times in the left chest and abdomen while he stood talking with a monk about preparations for an upcoming durian festival. Thanongsak, a well-known entrepreneur and community tourism advocate, died en route to the hospital.
Witnesses described the assailant as a man approximately 165 centimeters tall, aged 40-45, wearing dark clothing, a cap, and face mask, who arrived on an unidentified motorcycle, discharged a full magazine, and fled the scene. The victim's wife, Suticha, provided additional statements to police on July 6, and investigators collected CCTV footage from surrounding areas.
Police are pursuing two main leads: unresolved personal conflicts involving the victim and a domestic dispute from mid-year. Officers conducted a thorough evidence sweep at the scene and are expected to make arrests soon.
