Couple Arrested For 7.7 Flash Sale Delivery Scam

On July 10, police arrested Jirayut (James), 28, and Prarthana (Nim), 28, at their residence in Nong Chok. The pair allegedly ordered products during the 7.7 promotional sale on a delivery app, requested cash-on-delivery payment, then directed drivers to leave packages at abandoned houses before collecting the goods without paying.

The investigation began when a delivery driver reported missing merchandise and unpaid funds after completing a delivery. Through CCTV footage and witness statements, officers identified the suspects. A search of their home uncovered numerous unpaid-for items, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, and mouthwash. During questioning, the couple admitted to the scheme, saying they used some items personally and sold others for cash.

Their method involved instructing drivers to place packages in front of abandoned properties, then claiming they were unavailable and would transfer payment later. Once the driver left to make other deliveries, they collected the goods and disappeared, ignoring subsequent payment requests.

Police charged them with theft using a vehicle to facilitate escape. Investigations expanded after multiple delivery riders identified confiscated items as their own stolen packages, suggesting the couple may have victimized numerous others. Nong Chok police urged all delivery workers to exercise caution, insisting on meeting customers in person and receiving confirmed payment before leaving any packages.

Woman Arrested For Forcing Girls Into Sex Work

Police arrested a 28-year-old mixed-race woman on July 10, 2569, for allegedly forcing three girls aged 18, 17, and 13 into sex work. The suspect denied the allegations when questioned, claiming she never forced anyone and that the girls voluntarily asked for her assistance to earn money. She stated she was planning to quit the profession and was about to start a legitimate job on Monday when arrested.

Three girls—an 18-year-old, 17-year-old, and 13-year-old—filed complaints accusing the suspect of coercing them into sexual services, threatening to bring friends to assault them if they refused. Video evidence of an assault on the 13-year-old was submitted as proof.

At 4 p.m., police from the Udon Thani Provincial Anti-Human Trafficking Center, led by Lt. Col. Sermpol Pierschaisong and Maj. Wattanaphong Kaewphirom, arrested the suspect at a dormitory in Mueang District, Udon Thani, with 2,000 baht in cash seized.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having five women under her control aged 15-23, with the 13-year-old having run away. She denied taking a cut but acknowledged it was common practice. She admitted to striking the 13-year-old twice in the video but claimed others joined in because the girl was disrespectful.

The suspect stated: "I was about to quit this profession and start a new job on Monday. Getting arrested is a life lesson. Even children bite. I want to apologize to society and use this case as an example. There are many like this, but they find ways to escape. Use me as an example of why this is bad. Whether the girls agree or not, they do make money, but it's not worth it."

Police initially charged her with human trafficking, procuring prostitution, and child exploitation. Authorities will coordinate with relevant agencies to provide psychological support and rehabilitation for the victims.

Police arrested Rungrot, a suspect in the 'Pho Tip' fraud group, at Bang Yai Police Station on July 10 at 5:30 p.m. When questioned about why he signed as a father for Chinese families, Rungrot revealed that a Chinese acquaintance had introduced him to the scheme. He was instructed to marry a Chinese woman first, then sign birth certificates, earning 1,500-3,000 baht per transaction as compensation. Rungrot admitted he had certified three children over nearly a decade, with the second and third certifications occurring about a year apart. He claimed he no longer contacts the Chinese group involved and has had no recent contact with them. When asked why he participated, Rungrot claimed he thought it was legal since the marriages were properly registered, and blamed his youth for not fully understanding the implications.

Immigration officials arrived at the station to revoke visas for two Chinese nationals—Ms. Wu Mei Cheng and Mr. Liu Shuqian—a married couple who hired Rungrot as a father figure for their child. During the document signing, Ms. Wu Mei was reported crying while thinking of her two-year-old child, who was also crying after their arrest. Both suspects were taken into custody without commenting to the media.

Later at 6:40 p.m., police also brought in Pattipoom, another 'Pho Tip' suspect arrested at a residence in Thonburi, to Bang Yai Police Station for interrogation. He also declined to answer media questions before being detained.

FIFA Chief Infantino's Frequent TV Appearances Draw Criticism

FIFA President Gianni Infantino's constant appearances during 2026 World Cup broadcasts are drawing criticism, with former England players questioning why his face dominates television coverage of matches across North America.

FIFA Chief Infantino's Frequent TV Appearances Draw Criticism
2h ago Khaosod

Football observers are questioning whether FIFA President Gianni Infantino needs to appear so frequently in 2026 World Cup broadcasts. Infantino has been traveling across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and according to BBC reporting, during the group stage he attended up to two matches daily—often hundreds of miles apart—requiring up to three flights on some days.

Former England internationals Joe Cole and Gary Lineker recently discussed this on their podcast The Rest is Football, questioning why fans must see Infantino's face so often. Cole said: "The overall FIFA presentation disappointed me, but once Gary told me about Infantino, I started noticing it. Now I can't unsee it. In every game, both halves, the broadcast must show Infantino's head on screen. You're the federation president, but this looks like a power-mad person who wants to be in the spotlight constantly."

Lineker added: "Just watch the first 10 minutes of the first half and the first 10 minutes of the second half. You'll definitely see a cut to Gianni Infantino."

Cole replied: "Now that you mention it, it frustrates me greatly because I don't understand why they do it. I played a friendly match with him five years ago in Dubai. Nobody dared tackle Infantino—everyone was too intimidated. I even considered hitting him hard, but my sense of respect held me back. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't been so respectful."

Infantino faced significant criticism over his decision to change American player Florian Balogun's red card suspension from an immediate one-match ban to a one-year ban. President Donald Trump later admitted he called FIFA to request the review.

Retired Police General Selling Rare Golden Buddha Statue

Retired Police General Selling Rare Golden Buddha Statue
2h ago Khaosod

On July 10, retired Police Major General Somsakdchai Amorsongcharoen, formerly commander of the Nonthaburi City Police Station, revealed his intention to sell a solid gold Phra Somdej Buddha image inherited from the era of King Rama V. The statue, one of only eight created by royal decree and blessed by Somdej Phra Buddhajaroen the Great, is being offered at 300 million baht. Somsakdchai explained that at his advanced age, with uncertain health prospects and descendants uninterested in religious artifacts, he fears this historically significant piece could be lost to those who don't appreciate its value. He decided to sell now while he can distribute the proceeds fairly to his family.

Somsakdchai noted that Japanese billionaires have already purchased three pieces at 3 billion baht each, with one remaining in his possession and the status of the other four pieces unclear. He set the price at 300 million baht—far below the 3 billion baht paid by Japanese collectors—specifically to ensure the artifact remains in Thailand and finds its way to a Thai owner with the means to properly care for it. He emphasized that all authentication checks have been completed, including scientific analysis, condition assessment, pawn shop verification, and expert certification.

Somsakdchai received this particular statue from his father around 2554 (2011) when his father served as commander of Nonthaburi City Police Station. The rarity of these eight statues makes them among the most expensive Buddhist amulets in circulation today, with minimal documentation of their origins known to the general public.

A 49-year-old man named Patvat was struck and killed by the Utrawithi Express train traveling from Nakhon Ping station to Bangkok's central terminal near his home in Tambol Bo Hae, Mueang district, Lampang province on July 10, 2025.

Sarin Chantraphirom, assistant conductor of Lampang locomotive depot, stated that police from Mueang Lampang station are investigating the incident. He noted that the area had tall grass and was very dark at night, making it unclear how the victim came to be on the railway tracks. The train operator had sounded a warning whistle, but the man failed to move, resulting in the collision and his death.

Deputy Superintendent Kittichad Thapana and inspection officers from Mueang Lampang police station investigated the scene and found a bottle of clear liquor, a shoulder bag containing a lighter and aluminum foil resembling drug paraphernalia, and a glasses case, which were collected as evidence.

The express train departed Nakhon Ping station at 6:20 p.m. and arrived at Lampang Railway Station at 8:21 p.m., departing again at 8:24 p.m. When approaching the incident location before the railway crossing, the driver sounded the warning whistle, but Patvat did not evade and was struck and killed. Initial findings suggest the victim was intoxicated, with the exact cause of death still under investigation.

Man Dies After King Cobra Bite in Udon Thani
2h ago Khaosod

A 65-year-old man in Udon Thani province died hours after being struck by a king cobra bite. Samran's death has left his family devastated, with his wife in tears revealing his haunting final words: 'Save money for my funeral costs,' while pleading for kindly individuals to help fund their youngest daughter's education so she can fulfill her dream of continuing her studies. On July 10, reporters visited the family home in Nong Som district after Samran's death following a cobra bite. Relatives and neighbors gathered to hold a merit-making ceremony as the family mourned the sudden loss of their breadwinner. The house is located surrounded by rubber plantations and communal forest areas—environments conducive to snakes and venomous insects. Dried meat preparations were discovered on the property, and locals theorize the smell may have attracted the king cobra seeking protein, as these snakes are carnivorous hunters.

Samran's teenage daughter recounted through tears that the day before, her father planned to take her to market to buy pork and chicken to prepare dried meat for sale in the fields for income. While retrieving clothes from a clothesline, he failed to notice the black and yellow striped cobra until it suddenly swooped down and bit his head once. He then stomped it dead. After the bite, her father quickly instructed her to buy allergy medicine, which he took—three pills in total. Within minutes, his condition deteriorated rapidly: he began trembling, convulsing, and gasping for breath before losing consciousness.

Relatives and neighbors immediately performed CPR and rushed him to the hospital. Despite full resuscitation efforts, they could not save his life. His grieving daughter said through tears that if her father could hear her, she wished he would visit her in dreams, as he left without saying goodbye. She vowed to study hard to fulfill his wish of seeing her complete higher education.

Samran's wife explained she had been working in Udon Thani city for about a month, leaving her husband at home with their daughter, when she received the devastating news. Her husband had chronic liver disease and asthma, and despite doctor's warnings, he had been secretly buying asthma medication. She suspected that taking three allergy pills combined with his pre-existing conditions may have caused his rapid deterioration after the cobra bite.

The night before the incident, Samran's wife dreamed of losing all her teeth, which unsettled her. During their final phone conversation, her husband told her to 'save money for funeral expenses' and emphasized his desire to see their daughter achieve higher education, insisting he wouldn't give up easily since his child was still young.

The family faces significant financial hardship and debt. Previously, Samran worked odd jobs, but as his health declined, he turned to preparing and selling food in the fields to support the family. His sudden death has left them without an income provider. They have four children total; the older ones have established their own families elsewhere. Only their youngest daughter remains, a diligent student with good behavior who dreams of completing at least high school education.

Woman Arrested For Sex Trafficking Three Minors

A 28-year-old Thai-French woman was arrested for forcing three minors, including a 13-year-old girl, into sexual services through threats and violence in Udon Thani province.

Woman Arrested For Sex Trafficking Three Minors
3h ago Khaosod

Three young women, including a 13-year-old girl, have come forward seeking help after being forced into providing sexual services by a 28-year-old half-foreign woman. If they refused, they were threatened with physical assault by her associates. Video evidence of the violence was recorded. The alleged perpetrator used social media channels to contact clients and arrange transactions.

On July 10, 2025, the reporter received complaints from Ms. A (pseudonym), 18, Ms. B (pseudonym), 17, and Ms. C (pseudonym), 13, who identified their alleged trafficker as Ms. Dah, 28, a Thai-French woman. They claimed she forced them to sell sexual services, threatening violence and assault if they refused, with video evidence of abuse. Ms. Dah had created social media accounts to facilitate contact with clients for transactions.

The reporter coordinated with Police Colonel Patanvong Janthapol, commander of Udon Thani City Police, who dispatched Deputy Police Colonel Wattanapong Kaewphirom and Police Major Sermpol Pierchaaisong, head of the Provincial Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, to interview the victims.

Ms. A revealed she was studying at the vocational level while working at a restaurant to support herself and renting accommodation with Ms. C. She dropped out due to night shifts causing fatigue and poor attendance. In March 2025, her landlord introduced her to Ms. Dah, described as a Thai-French model who arranged entertainment services for clients.

"Soon we became close and were persuaded to entertain clients, including Ms. C. When male clients messaged, Ms. Dah would send photos for selection. Once chosen, she'd quote a price for bank transfer, deducting 200-300 baht as commission. After four months, we were forced to accept clients even when sick or menstruating. If we refused, we faced threats of arrest on false debt claims. Eventually, we moved to escape but were threatened and assaulted, so we sought help," Ms. A stated.

Police have coordinated with multi-agency personnel to record statements as evidence and are tracking down Ms. Dah for questioning. If evidence confirms the offense, human trafficking charges will be filed.

Purple Line Tunnel Barrier Expanded After New Cracks Found

Bangkok's Purple Line BTS tunnel continues to experience ground subsidence and water infiltration, prompting authorities to expand the containment barrier after new cracks were detected beyond their original position.

Purple Line Tunnel Barrier Expanded After New Cracks Found
3h ago Khaosod

On July 10, Engineering Society of Thailand consultant Thanes Verasiri provided updates on the water infiltration issue affecting the Purple Line BTS tunnel excavation. Ground subsidence is showing encouraging improvement, with yesterdays settlement of approximately 20 centimeters contrasting sharply with the latest 24-hour period, which saw only 8 centimeters of additional subsidence. This represents a significant deceleration from the previous continuous rate of 1-2 centimeters per hour, which has now shifted to intermittent collapses depending on site conditions. This evening, authorities expanded the containment perimeter an additional 3 meters after observing that existing cracks had propagated beyond their original position, though they remain within the original 30-meter safety zone. Officials are proceeding at full capacity with repair efforts. While incoming rainfall poses minimal operational impact beyond slight work difficulty, groundwater inflow from below presents the more serious challenge. Authorities maintain constant situational awareness, and no new complications have emerged.
