Democrat Party Says Investigators Face Threats Over Senate Corruption Probe
Abhisit Vejjajiva said investigators probing alleged Senate corruption are facing intimidation, pledging the Democrat Party will protect those involved and push forward with the inquiry despite threats.
On July 23, 2025, Abhisit Vejjajiva, list-based member of parliament and Democrat Party leader, addressed suspicions of corruption and alleged Senate misconduct, noting that the opposition coalition, especially Pheu Thai, has pursued fact-finding efforts through numerous channels and established public participation mechanisms to monitor irregularities. However, Abhisit emphasized the party's deep concern over emerging signs of intimidation and obstruction targeting those conducting the investigation. He reaffirmed that the Democrat Party will not yield to such threats and has assigned Satit Wongnongtoy, a list-based parliament member, to coordinate closely with coalition partners for an intensive and ongoing investigation into the alleged Senate corruption case. "The Democrat Party is prepared to protect all those working on this matter so that truth and accuracy are revealed to society, and those responsible are held accountable," Abhisit stated.
