Ethics Case Against 44 Former Move Forward MPs Moves Forward
The Supreme Court held its second witness session in an ethics case against 44 former Move Forward MPs accused of constitutional violations, hearing testimony from parliamentary staff about disputed amendment documents.
On September 22, 2569, the Supreme Court on Ratchadamnoen Road held the second witness examination session in case number 1/2569, filed by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) seeking a ruling on serious ethical violations by 44 former Move Forward Party MPs.
The court had previously examined the first witness, Yutthabhumi Tephhasdin Na Ayutthaya, a senior investigator from the NACC's Investigation Division for Political and Constitutional Organisation Corruption. Today marked the second of four planned witness examination sessions. A total of nine witnesses are scheduled to testify, including three current and former parliamentary staff: Suwat Keerawichian, legal counsel at the House Secretariat; Sinee Sommee, director of the House Conference Office; and retired Police Lieutenant Colonel Aphat Sukhnan, former House Secretary.
These three witnesses provided testimony regarding various documents and records, including the process of submitting draft amendments, verification of proposer signatures, and reports noting that proposed drafts conflicted with the constitution.
After examining these three witnesses, the court scheduled the next hearing for October 20, 2569 at 9:30 AM. That session is expected to feature testimony from former Move Forward MPs who did not sign the Article 112 amendment.
The court has cancelled the final four defence witness examination sessions. Some sessions previously scheduled to hear four to five witnesses have been eliminated. The case, originally expected to conclude by May 18, 2570, is now projected to finish by March 2570.
