Father Clarifies Karting Protest, Denies Feud With Rival Family
The father of a young go-kart racer has posted a statement denying any conflict with the family of a rival competitor, saying he only seeks clarification from race officials about possible rule violations. He stressed his goal is fairness for all children, not an advantage for his own son.
Poh Tanutraphat said he and his family have never had any problems or negative feelings toward Phoon’s family, noting they still shake hands, talk, and congratulate each other sincerely because the children must grow together in motorsport. He emphasized he never requested a change in the race results and proposed keeping the original outcome to avoid disappointing any child or family over rule issues, which is the organizer’s responsibility.
He said what he wants is a response from the organizers and the motorsport authority regarding three points: whether all cars were inspected to the same standard; whether an older‑model engine with a different cylinder block and parts can be used in competition; and if using parts from a different model or modified from the original standard is permitted under which rule.
He stressed his position is about fairness, not conflict, and that he is not accusing anyone of wrongdoing but wants the organizers to transparently explain the facts so a single standard applies to every child. He noted all families sacrifice time, money, and effort to support their children’s dreams, and he does not want his son to gain an advantage or anyone to lose a victory; he simply wants everyone to compete under the same rules and standards. He concluded, ‘Victory has value, and fairness makes that victory even more worthy of pride.’
