On September 30, 2024, reporters said the flood situation in Kabin Buri, Prachinburi Province, remained critical, with high water levels in many areas. The panic rose after a Facebook user posted that they had seen a large crocodile weighing about 60 kilograms and over two meters long floating near the old Highway 33 beside the Three Soldiers traffic light intersection. Residents reportedly used spears to chase the animal away before it dove back under the water.
Another local from the Mueang Kao subdistrict shared photos and a fearful message after spotting a smaller crocodile, roughly 30 kilograms and just over one meter long, near his house at 7:30 a.m. He urged officials to capture and remove the animals immediately, fearing for lives as the water remained high.
Kabin Buri District Chief Naturalrat Ngamsaeng said he had received reports of the crocodile sightings and ordered the fisheries office to investigate, though no confirmation had been received yet. He urged officials to continue verifying the information.
Despite water levels beginning to recede slightly, large volumes of standing water still block small vehicles on many routes. Along the Pra Phong canal, floodwaters have overflowed Highway 304 to a depth of more than one meter over a stretch of about two kilometers, from Nang Loeng Bridge to Mega Home Kabin Buri, making passage impossible for light vehicles.
Soldiers from the Royal Thai Navy’s 2nd Regiment have deployed large trucks to ferry people across the flooded zones, while medical teams from Kabin Buri Hospital shuttle patients and locals between Nang Loeng Bridge and Mali Witthaya Kabin Buri School, a round‑trip taking about 45 minutes throughout the day. Villager Wanutsanan Ritta expressed gratitude, saying the troops’ help made crossing safely possible even amid the crisis.
Meanwhile, Thap Lan National Park assistant chief Katawut Kunyama led integrated patrol units in using deep‑water boats to deliver food and essential supplies to hard‑to‑reach areas and to evacuate livestock trapped in homes to safer ground.
Provincial Veeraphan De‑on, together with Provincial Administrative Organization president Krit Kasemphan (“Mayor Oo”), visited the PAO flood‑relief center to monitor the preparation of food, drinking water, and relief packages for swift and widespread distribution to affected households.
The Prachinburi Provincial Incident Command Center reported that the flood has impacted seven districts, 61 subdistricts, 625 villages, and 20 communities, affecting 39,977 households and resulting in one death in Prachantakham District. Water levels in the Prachinburi River continue to rise in Mueang, Prachantakham, and Ban Sang districts, forcing officials to maintain response efforts.
