On July 27, 2024, Hua Hin Police Station in Prachuap Khiri Khan issued a statement on the progress of a case involving a foreign national's disruptive and violent behavior toward residents near Hua Hin Beach in Hua Hin Subdistrict, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province on the evening of July 26, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m.

After a video of the incident circulated on social media showing a foreign man attacking people in the area, Hua Hin Police officers quickly intervened and detained the suspect. The man is identified as Abdulla Yousif Ha Al-Harqan, 40, a Qatari national who entered Thailand on a tourist visa valid until September 22, 2024.

Following the arrest, Deputy Superintendent Kampanart Na Withai, commander of Hua Hin Police Station, ordered officers to expedite the collection of evidence and conduct interviews with witnesses. Victims were examined at Hua Hin Hospital, where doctors confirmed a total of six people were injured with only minor injuries; no serious conditions were reported.

On July 27, 2024, investigators brought both parties together for mediation regarding compensation and medical expenses, and an agreement was reached amicably. The suspect was charged with assault under Article 295 of the Criminal Code and ordered to pay compensation totaling 100,000 baht to the victims—the elderly disabled woman received 25,000 baht, while other victims received 15,000 baht each.

After legal proceedings were completed, the case was forwarded to the Prachuap Khiri Khan Immigration Office to consider visa revocation and take action under immigration law, as the suspect's aggressive and violent behavior poses a threat to public safety.

A construction worker was fatally struck by a falling steel sheet pile on July 27 at a water retention embankment project in Khlong 13, Sala Khru Subdistrict, Nong Sua District, Pathum Thani Province. Police, hospital medical staff, and rescue volunteers responded to find the victim, identified as 27-year-old Phakaphumi, with his head crushed beneath the steel. Witness accounts indicated that while the victim was positioning a trailer to transport steel sheets from the worksite onto a truck using a backhoe and sling system to lift a 12-meter sheet pile, he entered the area to change the trailer's battery. At that moment, the backhoe struck the sheet pile resting on the truck, causing it to flip and collapse onto the worker, killing him at the scene. Police have conducted further interviews with witnesses involved in the incident to establish the full circumstances of the fatal accident.

BANGKOK — A fan altercation during the International Novel Festival 2026 has sparked a wider online dispute between Thai and Chinese fan communities after entertainment company GMMTV apologized over an incident involving an event staff member and a Chinese attendee.

According to accounts circulating online, the dispute began over a seating issue after a Chinese fan allegedly entered a reserved area. The situation later escalated during attempts to remove her from the area, leading to a physical confrontation involving event staff.

In a statement released after an initial investigation, GMMTV said the staff member involved used excessive force during parts of the incident and that the company does not support violence in any form. Although the staff member was an outsourced worker hired for the event, GMMTV said it accepted responsibility for properly supervising event personnel. The staff member has been suspended pending the conclusion of the investigation.

GMMTV also denied online claims that it had taken legal action against the Chinese attendee, saying no such action had been filed. The company said the incident was an individual dispute and did not reflect its policy toward any nationality. It added that GMMTV does not condone discrimination based on race or nationality.

The statement has since drawn criticism from some Thai fans, who accused the company of failing to adequately defend the Thai staff member involved and questioned whether the response was balanced. Some fans have expressed support for the Thai side of the dispute, with discussions spreading across social media platforms.

The Meteorological Department issued warning number 9 (136/2569) on July 27, 2026, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across multiple areas of Thailand from July 27–30. The rain is driven by a monsoon trough affecting the northern and upper northeastern regions, combined with a strengthening southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand.
