Former Village Headman Flooded Fish Pond Business Seeks Aid
A former village headman in Pathum Thani reports his fish‑pond business was completely flooded, causing over half a million baht in damage. He says he has received no government assistance despite being adjacent to the municipal office, while relief efforts have bypassed him. The lack of support has left him feeling neglected and hopeless about recovery.
The former village headman explains that his fish pond, which borders the municipal office, remains underwater while nearby areas have dried. Relief trucks have been distributing boxed meals to other villagers, but he has never received any aid or even a visit to check on his situation. The flood has submerged his 17‑rai pond, leading to losses exceeding 500,000 baht not counting equipment; he had to keep candles lit for two days during the first flood and switched off the electricity for safety. He put up a sign at the entrance to vent his frustration, saying he wants moral support rather than material aid, especially from the municipality whose fence borders his pond. Restoring the business will take a long time, and the poor economic situation has left him feeling almost hopeless.
