On August 21, 2026, the Digital Economy Ministry, the Board of Digital Economy Committee, and National Telecom jointly hosted the Gov Cloud 2026 conference titled "Digital Infrastructure for the Government of the Future" at Impact Challenger Hall in Muang Thonburi. The event showcased cloud technology's potential in supporting Thailand's digital government transition.
Digital Economy Minister Chaiyachon Chidchob revealed that the Government Data Center Cloud system (GDCC) continues to expand, reflecting government agencies' growing commitment to cloud adoption for digital development. Currently, GDCC supports over 4,000 systems across agriculture, public health, education, research and development, and other sectors. In 2025, centralized procurement is expected to save at least 30 percent of budget, valued at over 2.134 billion baht.
The ministry's next challenge is to achieve full cloud operations while enhancing data sharing across agencies. Chidchob emphasized the shift toward a centralized National Cloud model to maximize digital spending efficiency. The expansion of partnerships aims to transform GDCC into a large, flexible, and efficient ecosystem supporting Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Big Data processing with GPU infrastructure, Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) options. This will enable the government to rapidly deploy people-centered services and develop innovative solutions tailored to public needs while considering environmental sustainability and Thailand's long-term interests.
