Labor Minister Julphand Amornvivat confirmed on September 7 that the Social Security Board election will take place on September 27 as originally scheduled, with no delays or postponements planned. He addressed criticism and concerns raised about the Labor Ministry, Social Security Office, and Election Commission, asserting that all mechanisms are working to ensure a transparent and fair election process.
Responding to concerns about an appeal to the administrative court, Amornvivat said this was a routine legal procedure filed earlier and not an attempt to block or derail the election. He stressed that his policy goal is to complete the election on the scheduled date and that his actions match his words.
Regarding concerns about documentation requirements from employers, Amornvivat stated these are necessary to verify the authority of corporate representatives, prevent fraud, and close legal loopholes that could lead to challenges invalidating the election later. He noted that election officials are finalizing operational manuals, guidelines for ballot verification, and duplicate-voting prevention systems.
Amornvivat emphasized his commitment to overseeing the Social Security Office closely and protecting the interests of over 24 million insured persons. He urged all parties to evaluate the matter based on facts rather than linking it to political issues, and assured the public that staff will work impartially to ensure a smooth election.
