Lampun Launches Free Electric Bus Service for Six Months
Lampun launches a free electric bus service starting September 8 for six months, operating on two circular routes with real-time tracking via the TSB Go Plus app to serve commuters across the city.
Lampun Provincial Administration announced on September 7 that its electric bus service will launch free of charge on September 8, 2569 and continue until March 8, 2570. The service is designed for commuters traveling to school, work, markets, temples, and around the city. Passengers can track buses in real time by downloading the TSB Go Plus app for iOS and Android, which displays routes, stops, schedules, and live vehicle locations before leaving home.
The buses operate on two circular routes connecting major Lampun landmarks including Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, Chakkham Kanathorn School, Cham Fah Shopping Mall, and Northern Industrial Estate. Initial service hours run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with departures every hour from Lampun Central Sports Ground. This represents the first phase of a pilot program to assess real-world usage and adjust services to suit Lampun residents before expanding frequency and routes.
Beyond being electric vehicles, the buses are fully equipped with wheelchair accessibility and designated boarding areas, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, audio announcements at all stops, 22 seats plus standing capacity, and GPS real-time tracking. The service aims to reduce transportation costs, improve travel convenience, and cut air pollution.
