On the evening of July 21, 2569, authorities including Lt. Col. Kittishai Krainara, the superintendent of Muang Police Station in Nakhon Si Thammarat, along with a medical examiner from Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital and officials from the Prachachart Foundation, investigated a townhouse in Soi Thai Bandit along the Nakhon Si Thammarat-Ban Tarn Road in Tambon Phothisaden, Muang District. Upon arrival, a strong stench of decomposition was detected. Police found an unidentified male body slumped against a pillow on the second-floor bedroom. The corpse was heavily decomposed and appeared to have been dead for at least 3-4 days. The homeowner, known as "Off," a transgender woman, has been missing for three days and cannot be contacted, though calls are being routed through but not answered. Strange occult rituals were observed inside the home, including the spirit house wrapped in white cloth, possibly intended to sever the deceased's spirit from the household shrine or to perform other occult practices. Initial autopsy was inconclusive due to the body's advanced decomposition; a detailed examination is required. According to investigation details, Off had called police about 2-3 days prior requesting assistance in removing a boyfriend from the house, but officers found no one present. A neighbor reported that since Off's father died over a year ago, Off had become reclusive, keeping the house draped with cloth and rarely seen by others. The neighbor also noted that Off practiced occult rituals and was involved with mystical activities. Police are now urgently searching for Off to determine the identity of the deceased, locate relatives, and proceed with legal action.

Thailand's national men's futsal team reported for their first training camp on July 21 at the FA Thailand facility to prepare for the Continental Futsal Championship 2026, which will take place August 1-6 at a gymnasium in Nonthaburi province. Head coach Rakphol Sainetrngam, nicknamed "Coach Mee," led the 20-player roster and coaching staff.

Coach Mee explained that the squad was assembled by combining players from recent AFC Asian and ASEAN championship campaigns, plus one new player, Sirawit Buattonglert from Phetchaburi Rajabhat University. He noted the challenge of preparing a competitive team in just two weeks with only eight training sessions before the tournament. "We're trying to blend experienced players with rising stars quickly," he said, acknowledging that three months have passed since the last ASEAN championship.

The coach praised clubs for releasing players outside the FIFA window and mentioned that international player Muhammad Usmanmussa was unavailable due to club commitments. He emphasized that this tournament serves as preparation for the Asian Indoor Games and provides an opportunity to evaluate the squad's direction moving forward.

Player Ranchai Juengwongsuk expressed honor at being called up and reported being in full physical condition. He noted this was his second camp after recovering from an injury suffered during the ASEAN championship and expressed readiness to contribute to the team's goals.

Poor Family Loses Welfare Benefits Over 20-Year-Old Motorcycle Still in System

A 13-member family in Chai Nat province lost state welfare benefits due to a system error listing them as owning three motorcycles, though one was sold over 20 years ago and never transferred. The ministry is accepting appeals until July 31

Poor Family Loses Welfare Benefits Over 20-Year-Old Motorcycle Still in System
21 Jul Khaosod

A 13-member family in Chai Nat province is appealing for the restoration of their state welfare benefits after being disqualified due to a system error showing them owning three motorcycles, even though they sold one more than 20 years ago. The Ministry of Finance has announced results of the 2025 state welfare program eligibility verification, allowing those denied to request a review by July 31, 2025, with corrections due by August 16, 2025, before final results are announced on September 21, 2025, and benefits resume October 1, 2025.

On July 21, 2025, a reporter visited a home in Khao Tha Phra Subdistrict, Muang District, Chai Nat, and met 48-year-old Somchit, who was stripped of her welfare benefits. She explained that her household of 13—seven adults and six children aged 3–17—lives together with many unemployed members, making survival difficult. She used to collect and sell garbage from a landfill, earning 500–600 baht per sale, but after the landfill closed permanently, she switched to construction work. Now she collects garbage from neighborhood bins, accumulating it over 6–7 days to sell for only 300–400 baht, often borrowing money from neighbors to cover expenses. She received the 300-baht monthly state welfare benefit since the program began, which was vital to her family's survival. However, the 2025 eligibility check found her disqualified because the system listed her owning three motorcycles, exceeding the program's asset limits.

Somchit confirmed that one of those three motorcycles was sold over 20 years ago, but the buyer never transferred ownership, leaving her name still registered with the Chai Nat Provincial Transportation Office, inflating her vehicle count above the program's threshold. "I feel hopeless, disappointed, heartbroken, and very stressed," she said. "That 300 baht a month matters so much to us—it buys rice to feed the children. My partner earns the main income but it's still not enough, and we have many children. Without that help, life becomes very difficult."

Although the state opened a window for appeals, Somchit admitted feeling discouraged and unwilling to apply, knowing she still appears to own three motorcycles in the system and fearing rejection. She pleaded with relevant agencies to review her case fairly, noting her family is genuinely poor and the motorcycles are only work vehicles. If she regains her welfare benefits, it would ease her burden and help her buy food and care for her family during periods of irregular income and high living costs.

Man Shot Dead Outside Shop After Cockfighting Event

A 26-year-old man was shot dead outside a shop in Trang after leaving a cockfighting event, with police investigating the killing as a premeditated ambush by an occupant in a black Toyota Vios that fled the scene.

Man Shot Dead Outside Shop After Cockfighting Event
21 Jul Khaosod

At 5:20 p.m. on July 21, 2569, police in Mueang Trang received a report of a man shot with a shotgun outside a general store on Nah Muea Rat Road in Na Bin La subdistrict, Mueang district, Trang province. Officers arrived to find Thaninchay, known as "Nin," age 26, suffering multiple shotgun wounds to the chest. He was lying next to a black Honda Forza 350 motorcycle (Trang license plate 1 KS 4992). Emergency responders performed CPR and rushed him to Trang Hospital, but he died from his injuries.

Investigators found one shotgun shell casing, shell fragments, and pieces of the perpetrator's car mirror at the scene, which they collected as evidence. The victim's motorcycle contained herbal drink and rice he had just purchased. Police coordinated a manhunt across Trang province and neighboring areas, seeking a black Toyota Vios with a Trang license plate that fled toward Nah Pod intersection. The plate was later suspected to be fake.

Witness accounts indicated the victim had arrived alone on his motorcycle and spent about five minutes inside the shop buying rice before walking out, placing his purchases under the seat, putting on his helmet, and preparing to leave. A black car suddenly pulled alongside at close range, the window lowered, and the occupant fired two shotgun rounds with a five-second gap before speeding away. Investigators believe the shooter had carefully planned and tracked the victim from a cockfighting arena in Ban Khuan subdistrict, where the victim had just finished livestreaming a match. The victim was heading home to Na Khao Siao subdistrict when he stopped at the store. Police are treating this as a premeditated ambush, though personal dispute is the primary theory; other motives have not been ruled out. The victim had no prior arrest record or criminal history.

Thai Swimming Dominates Asian Age Group Championships With Seven Golds

Thailand's young swimmers earned seven gold medals at the Asian Age Group Championships in Bangkok, with standout performances in the 13-14 age group and a new national record set in the 50-meter breaststroke.

Thai Swimming Dominates Asian Age Group Championships With Seven Golds
21 Jul Khaosod

Thai swimmers took home a total of seven gold medals, 21 silver and 19 bronze at the 2026 Asian Age Group Championships held at the Thai National Sports Authority pool in Huamark on July 21, the final day of competition. Thanawit Tossakul, secretary-general of the Thai Aquatic Sports Association, said the Thai diving team performed exceptionally well at this Asian Age Group event, particularly standouts Ariya Suwannapong and Lilly Prathip. However, it was regrettable that these two athletes were ineligible for the 2026 Asian Games because they did not compete in the most recent Southeast Asian Games, though both have confirmed their participation in the upcoming Malaysian SEA Games.

With strong competition from China and Japan in swimming, the event was challenging for Thailand, yet Thai swimmers in the 13-14 age group delivered impressive performances and won gold medals. Overall, the Thai youth swimming team this year competed only against the top-tier Asian programs and performed commendably. When compared with other Southeast Asian nations, they are competitive, and Thai youth statistics are even stronger.

"Sky Kingpoyam, who broke Chulamnak Rathpong Sirisaannont's 32-year-old record, did something excellent. You can see he has a good physique, determination and focus. He trains in England and is believed to be a key player for Thailand's swimming future," Thanawit said.

A highlight was Kittiphoom Pornpaisalwijit in the boys' 13-14 age group 50-meter breaststroke, who performed outstandingly, finishing with a one-lap technique in 29.76 seconds to win gold and set a new Thai national record in his age group.

Vachiranyan Thalavong claimed two silver medals in the 13-14 age group girls' category from the 50-meter freestyle in 26.59 seconds and 50-meter breaststroke in 32.48 seconds. Nattakrit Leekitchakanon, a 2026 Youth Olympic athlete, won silver in the 50-meter breaststroke, 17-18 age group girls in 32.10 seconds. Tithirat Charoenthap won silver in the 1,500-meter freestyle, 17-18 age group girls, and the team closed with a mixed 4x100-meter medley relay silver in 4:05.94.

In summary, the Thai youth swimming team earned seven gold medals, 21 silver medals and 19 bronze medals.

Training sessions at BGTC3 stadium in Pathum Thani province are held twice daily—morning and evening—to ensure readiness for the tournament. Oattaphan emphasized that the team needs to sharpen its finishing in the final third, though game reading and understanding have been solid.

Goalkeeper Korkradat Pipattnayadda highlighted the intensity of training camps, comparing it to a preseason. He praised collaboration with experienced goalkeepers Chatchai Bootprom and Kampon Pathamarangkul, noting that their mentorship aids his development. He stressed the importance of fitness conditioning and emphasized the need for constant communication among teammates to align individual techniques with the coach's tactics.

Father Seeks Help for Son Claiming to Be Comedian's Child
21 Jul Khaosod

On July 21, 2024, a 22-year-old man identified as Def entered a police station in Udon Thani asking officers to confirm receipt of 10,000 baht he claimed the famous comedian Mam Jok Mok had transferred for travel to Yasothon province. When questioned about his story, Def insisted that a "mind-reading device" had revealed to him that Mam Jok Mok was his biological father, though he acknowledged he was legally an adopted child. Officers at the station noticed his behavior appeared unstable.

Police later conducted a background check using his real name and found no records linking Def to Mam Jok Mok by blood or adoption. Def continued insisting that Mam Jok Mok was his true father. The investigation revealed that Def's registered residence is in Non Sang District, Nong Bua Lamphu province, with no connection to the comedian.

In a phone interview, Def's biological father, Ketu, a construction worker currently on Samui Island, confirmed that Def is his biological son and his only child. He disclosed that his son has a history of serious drug use and over the past month has shown dramatic behavioral changes, including talking to himself, hearing voices, and believing that relatives are being held hostage at a pier and threatened. The family had previously sought psychiatric treatment for him at Samui Hospital.

Ketu expressed deep concern, explaining that because he works far from home and has financial limitations, he cannot personally monitor his son. He has appealed to police, social welfare authorities, and the Foundation for Protecting Vulnerable Persons for assistance in locating and helping his son access proper psychiatric evaluation and treatment for everyone's safety. Def is currently in the care of the police investigation unit "Pirun." The Mirror Foundation reportedly is traveling to meet with Def at the Udon Thani City Police Station.

21 Jul Khaosod

On July 21, 2026, the Community Network for the Land Bank (KNTH), led by Bunbangorn Chanacho, submitted a formal complaint to the Prime Minister's office, joined by representatives from agricultural and community enterprises across Tak, Chiang Rai, Chachoengsao, Nakhon Ratchasima, and other provinces. The delegation requested that the government sustain and support the Land Bank Administration (public organization), or TBB, citing its critical role in addressing land inequality and poverty.

The petition follows a previous cabinet resolution setting September 30, 2026, as the Land Bank's dissolution date, which has sparked concern among farmers and vulnerable communities who depend on its land allocation and housing assistance programs affecting hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries nationwide. Representatives highlighted that the Land Bank has successfully distributed over 416 rai of farmland to 108 farming households in Chiang Saen, Chiang Rai, enabling sustainable agriculture and household income generation.

The network has urged the government and cabinet to maintain and strengthen the Land Bank's mandate as the primary agency supporting impoverished citizens lacking agricultural land, ensuring long-term food security, fair resource distribution, and stable livelihoods for farmers across Thailand.
