Man Jumps Into River After Asking If Fall Would Be Fatal
A man jumped into the Chao Phraya River at Nonthaburi pier on July 7 after asking a witness if the fall would be fatal. His body was found about 30 meters away; authorities are investigating the death as an apparent suicide.
At 8 p.m. on July 7, 2026, police in Muang Nonthaburi received a report of an intentional jump from Nonthaburi pier at the Clock Tower Dock in Muang District. A witness, 42-year-old Bunchai, who was sitting with his girlfriend at the dock, said a man wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, patterned long pants, and white sneakers ran down from the pier, stopped abruptly, and asked, "If I fall here, will I die?" Immediately after speaking, he stepped into the Chao Phraya River and disappeared. The witness alerted police, and a diving team was dispatched. Within approximately 5 minutes of searching, the body was found about 30 meters from the dock. An initial medical examination found no injuries or signs of assault. No identification documents were found on the body, so it was sent for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
