At 7 p.m. on July 28, police in Phran Kratai district, Kamphaeng Phet province, responded to a fatal assault report at a rental room behind Sri Phitok Market. Officers found the body of Thanawat, a solar power plant worker, dead outside the rental room with gunshot wounds and knife cuts to the head, left shoulder, and leg.

Initial investigation revealed that 23-year-old Somchai, the victim's brother-in-law, was drinking beer and playing loud music in an adjacent room. When Thanawat came to warn him, the two got into a heated argument and began fighting. Unable to win the brawl, Somchai ran back, retrieved a gun and knife, and attacked his brother-in-law, killing him before fleeing.

Witness Wanni, 49, recounted that she heard about the quarrel and rushed to intervene, asking the men to separate as they were family. After Thanawat locked himself in the room, Somchai appeared wielding a gun and knife. Wanni and her child fled for their lives as gunshots rang out and Somchai shouted threats before repeatedly stabbing the victim until he collapsed.

Thanhawat's wife, Dao, 28, was selling seafood at the market when her husband texted asking her to tell his brother to lower the music because he had a headache. Before she could return to the room, she learned her husband had been shot dead.

CCTV footage from the scene clearly shows the suspect holding the gun and knife, attempting to break down the door, firing through the window, and then stabbing the victim repeatedly. Police are actively pursuing the suspect to press charges.

Hloong Soloh's family reported him missing after he lost contact over 10 days ago while traveling in Georgia. His last confirmed contact was on July 13. The Drama-addict Facebook page has been helping to circulate missing person notices, noting that Thai residents in Georgia are coordinating with authorities. They are requesting his full legal name, passport number, and flight details, and asking anyone with contact information for his relatives to reach out.

One Facebook user commented that the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara is actively coordinating with relevant Georgian agencies. Thai volunteers appointed by the embassy have connected relatives with consular officials to provide personal information. An agency representative who had been in contact with Hloong before he went missing has provided his brother with a timeline showing he planned to travel in Georgia and Armenia between July 5-10, before heading to Chiang Mai in August. It is possible he may have traveled to Armenia during the period when contact was lost.

Bodybuilder Killed in Red-Light Crash; Driver Was Police Officer's Daughter

Bodybuilder Killed in Red-Light Crash; Driver Was Police Officer's Daughter
28 Jul Khaosod

Fa Prathan Thongkoat, a 30-year-old fitness trainer and bodybuilder, was killed instantly when a white Honda City ran a red light and struck his motorcycle at the Nong Samrong bypass intersection in Muang District, Udon Thani, at approximately 11:58 p.m. on July 26. CCTV footage shows that Fa Prathan was proceeding normally through the intersection on a green light when the sedan suddenly swerved from the right and hit him with force. His father, Kamphan, 50, expressed deep concern that the case may not receive fair treatment, as he learned the driver is a woman who appeared intoxicated and is the daughter of a police officer.

Fa Prathan was the family's only son and had recently graduated and built a career as a fitness trainer and competitive bodybuilder. He was planning to marry his fiancée, a nurse at Udon Thani Central Hospital, later this year. Just before the accident, he had called his mother to say he was heading home for dinner. Kamphan stated that his son had sent an omen the day before—his right eye had twitched continuously—which he now believes was a premonition of the tragedy.

Kamphan has appealed to the media to ensure the case is handled transparently and urged authorities to expedite the investigation, including alcohol testing and a full forensic examination. He said the driver's family has already contacted him about compensation, but he has asked to complete the funeral rites first before discussing settlements. Kamphan emphasized that he seeks only justice for his deceased son and confirmed he will pursue the case through all legal channels to ensure it proceeds fairly and according to the evidence.

Thai police chief denies proposing the transfer of his senior deputy, rejecting media reports of discussions with the deputy commissioner about reassignment to another agency.

Thai Police Chief Denies Proposing Transfer of Senior Deputy
28 Jul Khaosod

Police Commissioner General Kittirattanpetchr stated on July 28 that he has not yet received the letter reported in the media from Deputy Commissioner General Nirandr Luemsuree rejecting any transfer to another agency. The commissioner firmly denied ever discussing or proposing such a transfer with Nirandr, or having discussed the matter with Prime Minister Anuthim Charnweerakul. Nirandr's letter cited section 93 of the 2565 B.E. National Police Act, which stipulates that transfers must be voluntary, and argued that his experience in investigations, crime prevention, and command would be most beneficial to the national police agency during his remaining years of service. Kittirattanpetchr emphasized the importance of unity within the police organization and called on all officers to focus on their duties for the benefit of the public, national security, and the integrity of the institution, rather than concerning themselves with rank or position. He stressed that improving public safety, reducing crime, and earning public trust should be the collective priority of all police personnel regardless of their rank.
