Man Shoots Dead Knife Attacker After Son Is Stabbed
A village assistant shot and killed a knife attacker in Chiang Rai after the man stabbed his son, with the shooter surrendering to police immediately.
On July 31, 2026, police at Mae Yao Station in Chiang Rai responded to reports of a fatal shooting in a residential area in Mae Yao subdistrict. Officers discovered the body of a 55-year-old man, identified as Ja Khuea (surname withheld), lying dead from a gunshot wound to the head. The shooter, identified as Nikhom (surname withheld), a 45-year-old village assistant, surrendered to police immediately.
Investigations revealed that Ja Khuea had stabbed Nikhom's 24-year-old son, Sithee, on the arm with a knife. Witnessing his son's injury, Nikhom drew a 9mm pistol and fired at Ja Khuea's head, killing him at the scene. Police have taken Nikhom into custody and are preparing legal charges.
