Military Unit 423 Rushes to Protect Tak School with Sandbag Barriers Following Flashflood Damage
Military Unit 423 deployed sandbag barriers at a Tak Province school after flashfloods damaged the area, protecting classrooms from further water and mud infiltration as heavy rains continued through May 21.
On May 19, 2569, Unit 423 soldiers rushed to assist Ruamthai Pattana 4 School in Ruamthai Pattana Subdistrict, Phob Phra District, Tak Province, following flashflooding triggered by heavy rains. Emergency relief teams were mobilized to construct sandbag barriers, preventing water and mud from inundating additional school structures.
Unit 423 received an urgent mandate to assist the school after flashflooding occurred on the evening of May 18. The surrounding area was affected, with lower-level classrooms at risk of water and mud infiltration. Officials rapidly deployed disaster relief personnel and equipment to place sandbag barriers around vulnerable areas, blocking water and mudslide damage to school buildings and student learning materials.
The protective barriers were successfully established as planned, reducing risk and preventing damage in a timely manner despite continuous rainfall in the area.
Meanwhile, the unit maintains 24-hour surveillance and close monitoring of water conditions. With weather alerts warning of heavy rainfall continuing through May 21, the unit stands ready to provide immediate assistance if additional emergencies develop.
