Thai (G)I-DLE member Minnie Nicha Yontararak returned to Thailand to celebrate her birthday with family and friends, including a trip to Chiang Rai, while unveiling her latest project — her first-ever Thai-language digital EP, 'i love you to the moon and back' — as a gift to Thai fans. On October 25, Minnie appeared at MINNIE SPECIAL LIVE IN BANGKOK at SPHERE GALLERY, Emsphere, where she gave interviews about her birthday celebrations.
When asked about her birthday, Minnie said: "Yes, I just had my birthday. It went by so fast — I'm 29 now. This year's birthday felt quite special. I got to sneak back to Thailand two or three days before my birthday to celebrate with friends and family. On the 23rd, my actual birthday, I celebrated with fans and we watched a movie together."
On whether this was a birthday spent with special people: "My heart feels so full. In my 20s, I've been working nonstop — some birthdays I've spent on planes. About two or three years ago, my birthday literally disappeared: I boarded a plane on the 22nd and landed on the 24th, so my birthday vanished mid-flight. This year, being back in Thailand, I wanted to make it special — to see fans and give them a gift too."
On how she's grown up: "I've grown a lot. I'm happy that recently I've had more chances to work in Thailand, especially since last year when I filmed a movie here. The warm welcome from fans meant so much. I feel grown up now — next year I'll be 30 — and I want to do what I dream of without waiting. If I want to release a Thai song, I'll just do it. Whatever I want to do, I don't want to wait anymore."
On birthday gifts to herself: "I haven't given myself a birthday gift yet. But I've been thinking for a while about taking a trip somewhere. I want to go to Chiang Rai because when I filmed there, I fell in love with it. Last year during filming the weather was great, but we didn't have much free time. If I'm giving myself a gift, it would be a travel trip — Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, and if possible, a hot air balloon ride again."
On future plans: "I'll promote the Thai album first. Then you'll hear new (G)I-DLE music — not sure how soon, but I have to go back and prepare for group activities. It won't be a long wait. Once I'm back, group schedules are packed. (So you're heading back to Korea?) Yes, but I'll try to come back often."
On other work in Thailand beyond music and film: "Get in touch! If there's an opportunity, I'm pretty open. Whatever comes my way, I'm ready — if the timing works."
