The videographer, 27-year-old Supharat, said she saw the monk leave the temple holding hands with a woman in revealing clothing; they behaved like a couple and the monk seemed drunk. Police Captain Manusut Ban-yong, chief of Laharn Sai Police Station, ordered an investigation and identified the monk as 48-year-old Phra Wiroj, a monk at a temple in Laharn Sai district. Phra Wiroj admitted he had drunk alcohol inside the temple after the end of Buddhist Lent. A 40-year-old woman, identified only as 'A', whom he had dated before ordination, visited and wanted pizza, so he took her to the market. Police then located him at the temple and he was defrocked immediately.
