Nota stated that continuous heavy rain and rising water levels require close monitoring, especially in areas at risk of flash floods. He emphasized that action on the ground, standing alongside residents, is more important than mere expressions of concern. He pledged that his team would maintain continuous surveillance, particularly during nighttime hours when water levels can change rapidly, and would coordinate quickly with authorities to assist residents in distress.

Nota appealed to residents in the Wiang Sa area to remain vigilant, monitor conditions closely, and report any damage or emergencies to his team immediately. He urged all families to stay safe and assured residents that assistance would arrive swiftly if needed.

The Department of Local Administration clarified the facts regarding the cancellation of a competitive examination for hiring civil servants and local government employees, as well as the annulment of Burapha University's winning bid announcement. The department confirmed that the cancellation followed recommendations from the Interior Ministry's fact-checking committee and the opinion of the central government's public procurement and asset management committee to strengthen anti-corruption measures and improve transparency in the examination process. The department stated that Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who held office at the time, had no involvement whatsoever in canceling Burapha University's winning bid or in any wrongdoing related to the 2568 examination.

A 15-year-old girl identified as Ms. A filed a complaint with social worker Phanumasi Chitrawasinkul and media outlets on August 19 after being gang-assaulted and threatened with the release of video footage in exchange for money. According to her account, a male friend invited her in mid-May to socialize with a group of male students at a trade school in Udon Thani province, and she brought along a female friend. When they arrived at the male friend's dorm room, there were eight people in total—six males and two females. They purchased and drank liquor together. After consuming three small glasses, she lost consciousness and later woke to find herself at the male friend's residence. She later learned that six of the males in the group had assaulted her and recorded video footage to extort money.

According to the female friend who was present, video clips of the victim were being sold, with demands starting at 100 baht per clip. Initially, the victim paid and received one clip, but was shocked to see it was genuine footage of herself. When she inquired about other clips, the price was raised from 100 to 180 baht. Unable to pay and fearful that the footage would spread on social media, she filed a police report.

"I am sorry and never thought this would happen to me," the victim said tearfully. "It felt like I was tricked into drinking, and the boys we trusted, who invited us, did this to us. I am worried the clip will leak on social media because they threatened that there are many more clips."

The victim's mother, identified as Bangbee, age 34, described her shock upon learning from police that her daughter had reported being assaulted by six males and was being taken for a hospital examination. "My heart was devastated. I never thought this would happen to my own daughter. Now I want to pursue this case to the fullest because any mother loves her child," she said.

Police have since identified all six male students and the female individual involved in the extortion. They are preparing to summon them for questioning to establish the facts of the case.

Pathum Thani — Local officials celebrated a new partnership in which Bang Ku Wad Municipality will assume responsibility for street lighting and median island upkeep on Highway 345, boosting the municipality's capacity to respond quickly to maintenance needs. On August 19, Nophadol Laddayaem, a former Pathum Thani Provincial Council member, visited Bang Ku Wad Municipality with media to review progress following a memorandum of understanding signed on December 22, 2024, between the municipality and the Nonthaburi Highway Branch of the Department of Highways. The agreement transfers Highway 345 at kilometer 7+705 within the municipality's jurisdiction, tasking local officials with landscaping improvements, sidewalk maintenance, drainage repairs, and street lighting upkeep.

Laddayaem praised the Department of Highways for decentralizing maintenance responsibilities to local authorities, noting that municipalities have direct access to problem areas and can resolve issues faster. Bang Ku Wad Municipality's tasks include weed control on medians and roadsides, electrical pole and street light repairs, and drainage and road surface inspections. "This is not merely about tidiness and appearance," Laddayaem said, "but about direct safety — improving visibility, reducing accident hotspots, and eliminating dark areas that may invite crime, especially overgrown grass and obscured views."

Bang Ku Wad Municipality Mayor Monthiphipat Emcharas revealed that officials visited an entrance to Pattharanee housing estate, a frequent accident hotspot due to high traffic volume and vehicles cutting across lanes. The municipality is coordinating with the highway branch and traffic police to improve the intersection, install warning signs, traffic signals, and clear road markings to maximize safety. By taking on these duties, the municipality can respond faster to maintenance needs and improve road safety and quality of life for residents. The memorandum, signed December 22, 2024, formally transfers Highway 345 maintenance responsibilities to Bang Ku Wad Municipality within its jurisdiction, covering landscape improvements, sidewalk repairs, drainage maintenance, and street lighting.

A 52-year-old man named Bandith has been arrested following a late-night motorcycle incident at Pa Adulyaram temple in Khon Kaen province on August 18. He rode into the temple compound around 10:30 p.m., causing concern to monks and residents. The man returned the following evening and was confronted by temple staff and disciples before police took him into custody.

Khon Kaen City Police investigated Bandith and conducted breath and urine tests. His blood alcohol content measured 264 milligrams per cent, leading to a charge of driving under the influence. A drug test returned negative. During questioning, Bandith admitted he had drunk an entire small bottle of rice whiskey alone and ridden from his home, roughly 12 kilometres away, after seeing a video clip about a land dispute involving the temple.

Bandith stated he is a fan of the activist whose actions prompted the dispute, saying he admired her straightforward manner. He claimed he came to the temple wanting to find the person who filmed the incident, but due to heavy intoxication, he cannot remember what he said that night. He emphasised that he acted entirely of his own volition with no one's instruction, and that he was not part of the group that had blocked the temple entrance with concrete pipes. "I'm a fan, I love the activist. She's straightforward, and I'm straightforward too," he told police.
