Over 6 kg of Heroin Hidden in Thai Silk Garments Destined for Chiang Mai
Police seized 6.2 kilograms of heroin hidden in Thai silk garments shipped from Loei province to Phuket, with investigators collecting evidence to pursue arrest warrants against those involved in the smuggling operation.
On May 5, 2569 at 14:45, Police Major Somsak Thongliang, superintendent of Wichit Station, along with Phuket forensic officers, examined evidence in a case involving the possession of Class 1 narcotics (heroin) and attempted illegal export of heroin outside the kingdom. Officers from Division 2, Section 4 of the Central Investigation Bureau, working with Wichit Station, seized two suspicious packages sent through a private transport company originating from Loei province with final destination at Phuket Villa Airport Village in Thalang district, Phuket. The shipment contained 48 finished Thai silk outfits with 6.198 kilograms of heroin concealed inside, seized on April 30, 2569. Authorities are collecting latent fingerprints from the garments and packages before submitting evidence to court to obtain arrest warrants for those involved according to legal procedures. The heroin is valued at 300,000-500,000 baht per kilogram, though street value at the destination would be approximately 10 times higher.
