People's Party Leader Teng Listens to Piyabutr, Vows Adjustments
People's Party leader Nattawong Ruangpanyawut said he is listening to feedback from activist Piyabutr and will make adjustments where needed, acknowledging internal divisions but insisting they are normal. He emphasized the party's focus on flood relief and chemical safety in Prachin Buri, criticizing media for diverting attention to personal matters like a spouse's job. Fellow party official Decharat defended Piyabutr's comments as referring to the broader political system, urging the press to cover substantive issues.
Nattawong Ruangpanyawut stated that he takes Piyabutr's reflections seriously and will make adjustments where possible, clarifying that the division within the party into two groups is a normal aspect of political organizations and that all members are free to express their views. He emphasized that the People's Party's morale remains strong, even after being questioned about its efforts on flood relief and chemical safety in Prachin Buri, only to see the conversation shift to inquiries about a spouse's job. He added that everyone ultimately aims to practice politics for the people, and it is natural for differing opinions to arise, including harsh criticism directed at Piyabutr. Decharat commented that Piyabutr's reference to 'democratic entertainment' was not aimed at the People's Party but at the broader political system, and he appealed to the media to focus on substantive issues. Nattawong also noted that he had spoken with Piyabutr after the Facebook post, that dialogue continues, and that all feedback—whether behind closed doors or public—is welcome as the party leadership listens and considers what should be adjusted. He reiterated that the party's work remains united toward the goal of people-centered politics, despite recent debates over whether the focus on entertainment is appropriate. Regarding the recent attention on a spouse's occupation overshadowing the party's work on floods and chemicals, Nattawong said confidence in the party's spirit remains high and that the shadow cabinet meeting continues to prioritize public distress.
