Phatthalung's Famous Stewed Beef Offal Dish
A Phatthalung restaurant famous for its slow-cooked beef offal stew has served customers for over 54 years with a closely guarded recipe simmered for five hours over charcoal.
For beef offal lovers, Siwal Ruiyant, a Phatthalung news reporter, recommends Phueng Wua Talat Phieo Old Shop, a restaurant that has preserved its delicious heritage for over 54 years. Penporn Bannsalaa, 47, the owner and daughter-in-law of the original founder, inherited the stewed beef offal recipe from her father-in-law and established the shop at 12/1 Phadungdonyaw Road, Kuhasawan Subdistrict, Muang District, Phatthalung Province.
The signature dish features beef offal from cattle aged 4–5 years, purchased fresh daily. The offal is soft and easy to stew, simmered over charcoal for five hours—the longer it cooks, the more tender and delicious it becomes. The broth carries a fragrant aroma blended with traditional spices, has no unpleasant smell, and offers a smooth, balanced taste with soft meat that satisfies all customers.
Customers can choose which parts to eat—intestines, meat, or omasum—served with hot rice. They can also customize their bowl with fresh lime, fresh chili, or pair it with a hot fried egg. Prices range from 100–150 baht to 200 baht per bowl. The restaurant opens from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and closes on Sundays. For inquiries or advance orders, call 09-9618-2542.
