A freight train collided with a passenger bus and vehicles at Bangkok's Makkasan intersection in May, killing multiple people, prompting the Pheu Thai Party to call for faster relief efforts and improved transportation safety measures.
May 16, 2025 – The Pheu Thai Party issued a statement regarding a serious traffic accident at the Makkasan intersection, expressing profound condolences over a freight train collision with a passenger bus, cars, and motorcycles at the Makkasan railway crossing that resulted in numerous deaths and injuries.
The statement noted that the losses suffered by the victims and their families cannot be adequately described in words. On behalf of party leadership and all members, Pheu Thai extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of the deceased and expressed concern for all injured parties.
"Pheu Thai is confident that the government will promptly provide comprehensive care and compensation to those affected, and is prepared to work with all stakeholders to thoroughly analyze this incident in order to upgrade safety standards across all transportation systems and prevent such tragedies from recurring," the statement said.
