Pheu Thai Supports Vote Amid Senate Attack on No-Confidence Debate
Pheu Thai leader Labour Minister Chulaporn Amornvivat said the party will vote to support the government in the upcoming no‑confidence debate, despite facing attacks from a Senate caucus it previously opposed. He stressed that Pheu Thai’s ministerial seats must not be touched and that any move to bring the Klaitham Party into the coalition would need the prime minister’s approval. Speaking at Government House on 20 October 2026, he added that strengthening the government’s majority would not be harmful and that the vote would proceed smoothly.
Pheu Thai reiterated that it would vote to uphold the government during the no-confidence debate, even though it faced criticism from the Senate caucus it had previously opposed. Chulaporn Amornvivat said he had not heard of any discussions about inviting the Klaitham Party to join the government, but insisted that Pheu Thai’s ministerial positions must remain untouched and the original agreement honoured. He noted that boosting the government’s vote count would not be detrimental. Speaking at Government House on the morning of 20 October 2026, he said the government works collectively under the law, and ministers facing questioning are experienced and capable of explaining their work. He described the debate as a two‑way forum where the opposition can accuse and ministers can clarify for the public. He said there would be no problem with the vote, as coalition members naturally support each other. Regarding the earlier Senate caucus issue, he said the party would wait to hear the debate but must respect the process already underway, noting the Election Commission has taken action. On the Klaitham Party, he said no talks have taken place and any decision rests with the prime minister. When asked if there were any issues Pheu Thai could not support, he replied there were none, adding that allegations of corruption would need to be heard before any judgment.
