PM Anupong downplayed Thaksin's recent visits to Malaysia and Indonesia as personal travel, rejecting speculation that the trips signal political maneuvering or a power assessment among the Shinawatra family.

PM Anupong Says Thaksin's Neighbor Visits Are Personal

Prime Minister Anupon Paojinda dismissed suggestions that Thaksin Shinawatra's recent visits to Malaysia and Indonesia signal a political power assessment, characterizing the trips instead as personal matters. Speaking at the Signature Hotel in Songkhla on July 10, 2026, Anupon noted that as a former national leader, Thaksin has every right to visit and meet with other leaders, and is traveling in a personal capacity rather than representing the government.

When pressed on whether the recent gatherings of three Shinawatra family members—Thaksin, his sister Yingluck, and his daughter Paetongtarn—held political significance, Anupon dismissed the concern as family business. He urged the media to stop speculating and emphasized that the three individuals enjoy the same freedoms as any ordinary citizen to travel wherever they choose.

Asked directly whether the trips constituted a political power gauge, Anupon initially deflected before firmly stating that there was no political dimension to the visits. He characterized all three as simply exercising the friendly relations between regional leaders.

Dragon emblems have appeared at both Chakravarti and Huay Khwang police stations, sparking public debate over the symbols' appropriateness and whether they represent local cultural identity or unauthorized affiliations.

A dragon emblem has appeared at Chakravarti Police Station, where officers are being distributed two emblems each, as the Royal Thai Police spokesman addresses ongoing criticism of the dragon emblem worn on uniforms at Huay Khwang Police Station. On July 10, 2026, the emblem design drew public scrutiny, prompting the police spokesman to explain that the dragon symbol represents the identity of Huay Khwang Police Station's area, which hosts large numbers of Chinese tourists and residents and is home to the Chinese embassy. The spokesman emphasized the emblem was not formally approved through proper channels and has no affiliation with Chinese business interests or organized crime groups.

Regarding the current case, Chakravarti Police Station's Facebook page posted an image of its own dragon emblem, differing from Huay Khwang's version, with a notice stating: "Notice to prevention division police officers: You are invited to collect the Chakravarti Metropolitan Police Station emblem, two pieces per person, at the prevention division office during business hours. We request your prompt cooperation to maintain order and uniformity in the appearance of our personnel." Following the post's publication, numerous social media users posted comments and reactions.

On July 10, at the Kanchanaburi Provincial Police Operations Center, Paveena Hongsukul, chairwoman of the Paveena Hongsukul Foundation for Children and Women, accompanied by director Ekpap Hongsukul and foundation staff, brought 11 female students aged 11-15 from grades 5 and 3 at a school in Sri Sawat District—who allegedly fell victim to sexual abuse by their school principal—to meet with provincial police leadership including Pol. Maj. Gen. Pesawir Rueangpoo.

The parents and children filed a formal complaint against the school director. Deputy Education Minister Akkranun Kannittin assigned attorney Sirisak Kanakaput to represent the victims. Multiple agencies attended, including representatives from the Kanchanaburi Social Development Office, the primary education office, and related units.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Pesawir confirmed investigators are prepared. The students' interviews will be conducted at appropriate venues such as the Kanchanaburi Provincial Prosecutor's Office, with a multidisciplinary team including prosecutors, investigators, psychologists, social workers, and persons requested by the children. Given the victims are under 18, special consideration will be given to their psychological state. Interviews are scheduled to begin Monday, July 13.

During the meeting, Paveena's representative and parents described the incidents, which have been covered by media since July 9. Officials expressed concern about the families traveling over 100 kilometers for questioning. To assist, the Child and Family Residential Home in Kanchanaburi has offered temporary accommodation for the 11 students during the interview process, with proper care provided. The education office will ensure their schooling continues without delay.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Pesawir reported that police have maintained coordination with the foundation and have informed National Police Chief General Kittirat Phan-iset and Metropolitan Police Region 7 Commander Lieutenant General Pisit Tanprasertsai. The police chief has ordered full investigation to ensure justice for the student victims, noting they represent the nation's future.

Thai Deputy PM Orders Price Controls On Prepared Foods

Thailand's deputy PM has ordered price controls on prepared foods after retailers raised menu prices by 5-10 baht since July, despite declining oil costs that should enable lower prices instead.

Thai Deputy PM Orders Price Controls On Prepared Foods

Deputy Prime Minister Supachai Suthammapant has ordered the Department of Internal Trade to implement price control measures for prepared foods. Since July 1, retailers have been gradually changing prices, with smoothie menu items increasing by 5 baht as of July 10, 2569.

On July 10, Department of Internal Trade Director-General Withayakorn Maneenet discussed price monitoring for consumer goods and prepared foods following declining oil price trends. The department has held discussions with retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers to review product prices to align with reduced costs.

While several product categories will see price reductions and others remain unchanged, the government requested cooperation to either freeze prices or adjust them lower than previously elevated cost levels. Products like sugar and vegetable oil will not increase in price, and eggs will not see further price increases.

Oil-dependent products such as fertilizer have already dropped 20% from 1,400 baht to 1,100 baht. The government also invited modern retailers to discuss profit margins with a request not to increase them to avoid burdening small-scale operators.

"Regarding prepared food prices, Deputy PM Supachai Suthammapant has instructed relevant agencies to discuss and find supplementary measures to help traders manage expenses without excessive increases, so prices need not rise to reduce public burden. A resolution will be finalized soon," Withayakorn said.

Reporters noted that since July 1, most food and beverage shops have gradually adjusted prices, averaging 10 baht per menu item—increasing from typical 50-60 baht to 60-70 baht per dish, following earlier increases in March averaging 5-10 baht per item. Smoothie drink shops raised prices an additional 5 baht.

MST Golf Thailand, the leading golf retail business in Southeast Asia, officially celebrated the opening of its first flagship store in Thailand at Chanya Issara Tower 1 in Bangkok. This represents a major step in the company's regional expansion plan, marking the company's entry into its fourth market after establishing successful operations in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Dr. Meechai Inwood, Deputy Secretary-General of the Sports Authority of Thailand, who presided over the event. The highlight included a special fashion show featuring brand ambassadors led by renowned professional golfer Pajaree Sattayaroj, alongside prominent Thai actors and sports celebrities including Tao-Sertthapong Piangpo, Leesoh-Theerathep Vinothai, and Darling-Ardha Aranyavuthi, held on July 9, 2026.

The launch reflects MST Golf's long-term commitment to Thailand, one of Asia's most vibrant and important golf destinations. The company aims to introduce a new shopping experience that brings together world-leading golf brands, expert advice, and premium shopping atmosphere under one roof.

Yong Yap Siew, Chief Executive Officer of MST Golf Group Berhad, stated: "Thailand is one of the fastest-growing, most vibrant, and most important golf markets in Southeast Asia. Opening our flagship store here is not merely expanding our retail branches, but delivering our complete golf ecosystem to Thai golfers. We're not just selling golf equipment—we're providing experience, innovation, world-class technology, entertainment, and sports lifestyle all in one place. We believe this landmark will become a new community hub that elevates golf standards in Thailand."

Unlike traditional mono-brand retail stores, MST Golf differentiates itself by allowing golfers to compare products from multiple leading brands in one location, supported by expert golf specialists and certified fitters who provide personalized recommendations rather than promoting any single brand. The integration of equipment, apparel, accessories, and expert services creates a seamless, customer-centric shopping experience.

Key highlights of MST Golf Thailand include exclusive distribution rights to sought-after brands unavailable elsewhere, led by Sun Day Red, Tiger Woods' lifestyle apparel brand, with MST Golf as the sole distributor across four major markets (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand). The store also carries WAAC, a trending Korean-American golf fashion brand; Disney Golf licensed merchandise; and leading brands such as ONOFF and Daiwa.

Drug Runner Caught at Red Light After GPS Mix-up

A drug runner was arrested at a red light in Maha Sarakham Province after GPS led him to the wrong location; police found 2,002 methamphetamine pills and discovered a cache of 2,000 more pills at the intended pickup site.

On July 10, officers from Khao Yai Police Station in Maha Sarakham Province were conducting patrols on Highway 2202 when they spotted a motorcyclist behaving suspiciously, with jerky arm and leg movements and unsafe swerving. Officers followed and stopped the rider at a red light, discovering 2 methamphetamine pills hidden in the motorcycle. The driver was identified as Ratchapol, 25.

Deputy Investigator Somphop Papain of Kantharawichai Police Station revealed that after finding the pills, officers expanded their investigation by checking the suspect's phone. They discovered contact with a drug dealing network and GPS coordinates for a drug pickup point. The suspect had ridden from Mueang District in Roi Et Province but entered the wrong location—Google Maps led him to Khaoyai Village in Kantharawichai District instead of the actual meeting point in Khao Village, Mueang Maha Sarakham District, causing him to get lost before encountering the officers.

Ratchapol stated he normally uses 10 pills daily but had only consumed 5 that day, causing hallucinations, anxiety, and restlessness. He was riding to the GPS coordinates to pick up methamphetamine when he took the wrong turn and was arrested.

Police later searched the actual drug cache location and discovered a black plastic package containing 20 bags of blue plastic-wrapped methamphetamine pills—2,000 pills total—buried beneath a tree near the Khao Village entrance in Mueang Maha Sarakham District. In total, police seized 4,002 methamphetamine pills.

Internet users are sharing clips of the legendary four-member girl group Girly Berry again, as member Giftzaa Piya Phongkulapak prepares to compete for the Miss Universe Rayong 2026 title. At the Chuchai Influ Diamond Night celebration at Hotel Muse in Bangkok, Giftzaa discussed the viral clip and expressed confidence preparing for Miss Universe Thailand.

"The viral clip of our four is back again?" Giftzaa reflected on being a pop artist today, noting that earlier generations dominated the market. "When newer groups like PiXXiE and 4EVE perform alongside us, we have to stand out. We'll bring high-energy songs to compete," she explained, emphasizing how Girly Berry distinguished itself through creative choreography and unique stage presence.

Asked about a reunion, Giftzaa hinted at upcoming developments: "It's going to happen, but I can't say yet. Fans should stop missing us. They've already scheduled rehearsals, but I can't reveal details yet. Fans can prepare to dance along."

On concerns about age in pageantry, Giftzaa noted she stopped discussing age two years ago, pointing out that if Miss Universe only wanted younger contestants, they wouldn't expand age requirements. She acknowledged nervousness about transitioning from music to pageantry but said she's performing fully in all activities.

Regarding pageant competition, Giftzaa expressed some concern about the different worlds of music and beauty pageants but is determined. "Tarinee is beautiful, but I'm positioning myself for the big crown—Miss Universe Thailand 2026," she said. "In this industry, everyone is beautiful, so I'm asking for everyone's blessings. Please support Giftzaa as she aims for the universe."

Champion Tapaeng Glass Singhmaowin will defend his Rajadamnern 147-pound title against Irish star Niall McGreevy this Saturday, July 11, in the main event of an RWS promotion. McGreevy, standing 189 centimeters tall—14 centimeters taller than Tapaeng—arrives as a formidable challenger hoping to make history as the first Irish fighter to capture the prestigious Rajadamnern belt.

This bout marks one of the toughest challenges of Tapaeng's career as he pursues his fourth consecutive title defense. In his previous three defenses, Tapaeng delivered dominant performances and earned bonuses totaling as much as 1.5 million baht. However, McGreevy's significant height advantage makes this fight particularly demanding.

Tapaeng Glass remains unruffled by the challenge. He stressed that regardless of his opponent's height, as long as McGreevy makes weight at the 147-pound limit, he is ready to face anyone in the world. The champion confidently promised a knockout victory this Saturday, vowing to demonstrate his devastating knee strikes.

"I don't care how many centimeters taller Niall is," Tapaeng declared. "If he makes weight at 147 pounds, that's all that matters. I'm the champion and ready to face everyone in my division. This Saturday, I'll knock him out with these knees. No dancing around—just heavy, powerful shots every time."

The stage is set for an intriguing clash: Tapaeng's quest to set a new record for most title defenses in the 147-pound division against McGreevy's dream of becoming Ireland's first Rajadamnern champion. The winner will claim a 350,000 baht bonus along with retaining or claiming the belt. Don't miss this Saturday, July 11.

Taro And University Partner On Waste-to-Energy Initiative
3h ago Khaosod

Premier Marketing Company Limited, producer of healthy snack brand Taro, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Srinakharinwirot University's Central Library to expand the successful "Taro Cares for the World Year 2" project. The initiative promotes environmental conservation and sustainable learning through systematic waste management partnerships.

Managing Director Piey Samutrokojon stated that the company is committed to creating shared sustainable success, ensuring employee stability, and generating social value. Last year, Taro partnered with allies to launch "Taro Cares for the World," inviting consumers to return Taro packaging for conversion through Waste-to-Energy processes, addressing plastic waste and systematic waste management to combat global warming.

Environmental challenges require cooperation across all sectors. Year 2 of the Taro Cares for the World project elevates its mission by expanding to the education sector through partnership with Srinakharinwirot University's Central Library. The initiative, framed as "Taro Cares for the World - World Rescue Box - Sort Snack Packaging - Transform Waste to Energy," uses creative activities to raise awareness and responsibility toward the environment. It invites students, university staff, and the general public to separate plastic waste at the source for proper conversion into clean energy.

The "Taro Cares for the World - World Rescue Box - Sort Multilayer Snack Packaging - Transform Waste to Energy" project emphasizes that proper waste separation and disposal is a simple starting point creating real environmental benefits. It promotes circular economy concepts that reduce new resource consumption and add value to waste materials, fostering daily practices and environmental consciousness among youth, driving Thai society toward long-term sustainable waste reduction.

This project builds on the successful 2025 "Taro Cares for the World Lucky Draw" campaign, which collected 3,079 kilograms of multilayer plastic packaging that was converted into fuel for electricity generation and coal replacement.

Chinese Influencer's Kindness Ends in Tragedy

Chinese influencer Zhang bought out an elderly vegetable vendor's entire stock and treated him to a meal in Henan Province, but the 81-year-old was struck by a car and killed while traveling home shortly after.

Chinese Influencer's Kindness Ends in Tragedy
3h ago Khaosod

On July 10, a video posted by Chinese influencer Zhang sparked widespread online debate after he bought out an entire vegetable stand from 81-year-old vendor Sei Jing and treated him to a large meal for the first time in his life. Tragically, the elderly man was struck by a car and killed while traveling home shortly after. Zhang, who has over 84,000 followers on Chinese platforms and regularly creates content helping farmers in Henan Province, purchased all 75 kilograms of vegetables—spinach, cucumber, and eggplant—that the vendor had brought to sell, paying 60 yuan (approximately 300 baht) and playfully stepping on the scale to increase the weight so the elderly man would earn more. The two then shared a meal, during which the vendor explained he still worked hard to support his two grandsons. Following the video's release, the vendor's grandson commented that his grandfather died in a traffic accident on the way home, calling it the last meal and video of his grandfather's life. The grandson remarked, "For years I hadn't seen Grandpa so happy." While some online questioned whether the meal contributed to the accident, the grandson defended Zhang, stating that good deeds should never be blamed and warning that if kindness were criticized, no one would dare help others anymore. Three days later, Zhang confirmed he had provided all footage and photos from the vendor's final day to the family and offered further assistance if needed. Many internet users rallied behind Zhang, arguing that blame should fall on the driver, not the person offering help, viewing the warm meal as the most precious moment of joy in the elderly man's final day.
