6 May Khaosod

At 6:26 PM on May 6, 2569, Kanchanadit Police Station in Surat Thani province received a report that a police officer had been hit by a bus while apprehending a suspect and sustained critical injuries near a Super Cheap store in Tha Thong Nai subdistrict, Kanchanadit district, Surat Thani province. Investigation and rescue personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.

When they arrived, they found Pol. Sgt. Natthapon Khuea Dej (nicknamed "Muay Thai"), a patrol supervisor at Kanchanadit Police Station, lying face-down on the roadside median strip in critical condition and unconscious. He had severe injuries including a fractured skull and a severely deformed right wrist fracture. A green bus with a shattered right windshield was parked nearby at the scene.

Rescue personnel from Surat Thani Kusalasat Foundation rushed him to Kanchanadit Hospital before transferring him to Surat Thani Hospital. Doctors discovered significant internal bleeding in the abdominal cavity and rushed him into surgery for emergency drainage. His fractured skull required a CT scan for further assessment. His condition remains stable with close medical supervision.

Investigation revealed that prior to the incident, Pol. Sgt. Natthapon had been tracking and attempting to arrest Natthapaht, a suspect accused of stealing water meter protective caps from residential properties. After receiving a report that the suspect was spotted near a sausage stand, the officer made the arrest. However, while being transported, Natthapaht resisted and fled across the street. Pol. Sgt. Natthapon and another officer pursued him closely, but as they crossed the street, a bus traveling at high speed struck Pol. Sgt. Natthapon, sending him flying into the middle of the road. The suspect, Natthapaht, escaped into a nearby alley but was subsequently apprehended.

Initial charges against the suspect include illegally carrying a knife in a public residential area and possession of methamphetamine (Category 1 drug). The theft charges remain under further investigation for prosecution.

Casemiro, Manchester United's experienced midfielder, has ruled out a contract extension as requested by fans, following his resurgence in form that helped the Red Devils secure UEFA Champions League qualification. The 34-year-old Brazilian midfielder had a difficult start at United but has demonstrated exceptional performances on the pitch this season, sparking calls from supporters for him to extend his contract for another season, despite his previous announcement of departure.

On the matter, Casemiro told ESPN: "I don't think there will be another opportunity. There won't be another chance to leave in such a grand way. I think it's been a very special four years, and I will be grateful forever—not just to the club but to every fan as well. I want to leave on good terms. I need to leave while I'm still at my peak. I will remain a Manchester United fan forever, and I just want to thank everyone for all the love I've received from the fans."

Ladprao District Candidate Considers Skipping Campaign Posters This Election, Locals Say He Should Reconsider

A Bangkok Metropolitan Council candidate in Ladprao District asked constituents whether to skip campaign posters this election to reduce clutter, sparking debate over whether offline signage remains essential for reaching voters unfamiliar

6 May Khaosod

Naphak Pengsuk, the People's Party candidate for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council seat in Ladprao District, took to Facebook on May 6 to solicit public opinion on his election strategy. He asked constituents: "For this election campaign in Ladprao, I'm thinking of not putting up campaign posters to avoid creating clutter and obstruction. What do you all think?"

The post generated extensive debate with divergent viewpoints. Supporters of his idea argued that campaign posters were unnecessary since residents already know him, while some felt their voting decision was already made regardless of signage. Others disagreed, suggesting he should display posters if placed strategically without obstructing walkways, or use smaller-sized materials. Some commenters emphasized that posters were essential for name recognition, noting that certain voters don't follow online platforms and need offline reminders. One critic warned that avoiding posters would be negligent, cautioning that a significant portion of the community doesn't stay constantly connected online.

Additional suggestions included placing posters at existing advertising boards or central locations. Some noted that while online campaigns are more effective in today's era, offline signage should still focus on communicating policies and ideology.

70-Kilometer Cross-Province Chase: Thai Driver Arrested for Smuggling Six Chinese Nationals from Border to Bangkok

Thai police arrested a driver after a 70-kilometer chase on Highway 359 in Sakaew, discovering six Chinese nationals with invalid visas or no passports being smuggled toward Bangkok.

6 May Khaosod

On May 6, 2025, the Central Investigation Bureau's Highway Police Division launched a pursuit operation across more than 70 kilometers, ultimately arresting a Thai driver who was illegally transporting six Chinese nationals. Deputy Lieutenant Colonel Kamolpop Hanyavet from the Highway Police Station 5 in Prachuap Khiri Khan-Sakaew revealed that officers received intelligence about Chinese nationals being smuggled from the Sakaew border into Bangkok, prompting them to set up surveillance. In the early morning hours, they spotted a gray Toyota pickup truck with Bangkok license plates on Highway 359 (Phonom Sarakham-Sakaew), also known as the Sakaew bypass route, in Sri Maha Phot District, Prachuap Khiri Khan. When officers signaled the vehicle to stop for inspection, the driver refused and accelerated away toward Khao Hin Sor District in Chachoengsao, then doubled back toward Sakaew. Officers pursued the vehicle intensively over approximately 70 kilometers before successfully intercepting it in Tha Kaset Subdistrict, Muang Sakaew District.

Inspection of the vehicle revealed the driver, 36-year-old Suthat (surname withheld), and six Chinese passengers. Through interpreters, authorities discovered: • One passenger had overstayed by 957 days • Five passengers had illegally entered without passports

Suthat confessed to borrowing a friend's vehicle to transport the Chinese nationals from Nong Sang Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sakaew, to Bangkok for 5,000 baht per trip. He was charged with harboring and concealing illegal foreign nationals to help them evade arrest. The six Chinese nationals were charged with illegal entry and unauthorized residence in the kingdom. They were handed over to Muang Sakaew Police Station for further legal proceedings.

Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. is leaving Al Nassr to pursue his career in Europe, with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and PSG among clubs monitoring the 16-year-old prospect who has impressed with 58 goals in 23 youth matches.

6 May Khaosod

Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. wants to carve out his own identity away from his father's shadow at Al Nassr, focusing on building his reputation in Europe. The 41-year-old Ronaldo has lost the opportunity to play alongside his son at Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League after his 16-year-old son expressed his desire to leave the oil-rich nation's club to test his skills in academies of top-tier European teams. Reports indicate that Ronaldo Jr. has attracted interest from major clubs including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, and Sporting Lisbon—his father's former club.

Ronaldo Jr. has drawn attention through his impressive goal-scoring record: 58 goals in 23 appearances for Juventus's U-9 team and 56 goals in 27 matches for Al Nassr's U-15 squad. He has also been selected for Portugal's U-17 national team. However, this decision has caused his father considerable concern, as the young player may face intense media pressure in Europe.
